Powerboards.....sweet!

I couldnt take it anymore....those useless factory step bars were not effective and sometimes unsafe as they were too close to cab and slippery when wet!

I found the Amp Research Boards on sale for $1115.00 USD with free light kit and free shipping and I figured if i could get $350 or so for my factory step bars on Craigslist.......so my final price would be around $750 or so?
I can digest $750 for Powerboards...

I decided to amp them up a bit and added LEDs to the rear endcaps.....I cant begin to describe how nice these boards are and how easy they are to install!

Since removing my Step Bars I have lost a lot of Chrome effect from the side of my Truck and I really dont like those wide stainless stick on rocker covers.......If anyone can suggest something else Im all ears....?

And as you can see the bad paint job on my Garage Floor Im in need of some Tiles ...but want the ones that will allow me to wash the floor and water will drain under them........suggestions here too please?

Check out my albums for pics

When my brother first saw my new truck he commented that they (the retractable running boards) would come in handy when I wear a dress.

But I like them a lot (and so does my wife even when she is not wearing a dress). I like how they tuck away and are barely visible when retracted but when extended they offer a well positioned and firm step to facilitate entry into the cab.

Enjoy!

PS

I can't see your pictures.

Looks good. I have used the AMP steps on a number of my trucks and I love them. Also like the extra clearance they give you over the factory side steps when you're offroading.

I'm with ya. I had the dealer take off the chrome steps and add the Amp boards before it left the lot.

Welcome to the club! I like the LED lights on the endcaps. Were those part of the lighting package? When I got mine I just got the LEDs that mount on the vehicle to light the steps and ground.

LEDs in Endcaps

They are just cheapie single bulbs you can but at your local Auto parts store....just drill a 3/16" hole and push them in tight....... Drill a 1/8" hole beside the hinge and fish wires thru the Board.....I just did the rears but you could fish both ends at the same time if you wanted to.......?

I wonder how well they will hold up to the Canadian winters?

Winter?

Vancouver rarely has winter.....rains a lot and keep truck squeeky clean underneath.........
From what I can see the Board Hinges have sealed pins and the motors are very simple to change ....but Ive never heard of anyone having problems with them?

The guys running them up north don't seem to have any problems. It gets pretty cold here in the winters, with stretches of sub freezing nights, and the occasional snow. I've never had any problems with the steps in those conditions.

Lift?

Ya ...I got a lift and if you get one dont make the same mistake I made....pay the extra little bit and buy the Truck one......Its a little wider and you wont have to pull one mirror in like I do.....It runs on 110v and is made to be portable....they claim it doesn't even need to be secured to the floor....?
I didnt take any chances and drilled and installed 3/4 anchors in the floor.....
I even got my 04 F-350 Crew Long Box to fit on it.....mind you 1/2 the rear tire and 1/2 the front tire was hanging off it....but it managed to lift that ole Pig

Mine is from http://www.completehydraulic.com/

Make sure you dont get one of those Chineese ones from Costco.......and besides we should buy N. American Products anyway.....just out of principal!
I left the Stars and Stripes sticker on it for good measure!......

Next Garage improvment will be Floor Tiles.....If anyone can give me the 411 on them......that would be great!

thanx
