Sorry to bring back an old thread but I'm still seeing the white streak running out of the Ford emblem after I wash the truck. I washed it yesterday around mid day and there is still water running out of the emblem today and leaving a white streak. I took the truck to my local Ford dealer and showed it to the body shop manager and as we were standing there looking at it, a line of water leaked out. This is a full 24 hours after I had washed it. We both agreed that its not grease because it is definitely coming from behind the emblem and not anywhere near the handle. Its not a normal water mark because it hardens and is difficult to remove. The only thing we could see is that the double sided adhesive tape that holds the emblem in place isn't completely sealed on the top. Water is collecting behind the emblem and slowly leaking out. He is ordering me a new emblem and going to reinstall it and make sure it is sealed entirely around the emblem. He still can't explain why the water is leaving a white mark but it seems to me the adhesive is breaking down. He disagrees. He says the adhesive is oil based, not water based, and water wouldn't break it down. But besides that, I think that if the emblem fills with water this winter and freezes I'll have an even bigger issue then a white streak so at the very least it should be completely sealed all the way around the emblem.

Tried a little experiment today. I poured a large glass of water (hard water) into the top of the emblem. Enough to fill it. Let it sit in the sun for a couple hours and checked on it. No white streak. So it looks to me like it is the detergent we are using. If it was the detergent in the car wash alone then we would see this mark elsewhere on the truck, but because it is only coming out from underneath the Ford emblem then it has to be some sort of chemical reaction with the adhesive.

I had this same problem and it was driving me crazy!! It would drip for hours and I would constantly be wiping the water that dripped down off. So today I ripped the emblem off and there was a ton of dirt behind it. I cleaned it off and added silicone around the edge of it and re attached it. Here is to hoping it fixed the problem.
