Just got a call back. $875 installed.

Another question... If I have this installed prior to get my bed liner sprayed in would this increase the cost to have it done? Not sure what all they remove to do the spray in liners?

last year when it first came out it was based off the HD. But when the F1 came out in Nov 09, the latest and greatest changes were also made to the OEM Ford cover so it's now like the F1. My inside Bakflip source has confirmed this.

all Bakflip covers should come with the foam cab protectors...

Well I definitely have to go back to the dealer because we just had rain and one of the drain tubes is filled to the top with water and overflowing back into the bedliner.

When I was picking up the new truck I pointed out that all the drain tubes were missing so 20 minutes later they bring the truck back out and then I noticed they ran the 2 tubes nearest the cab, straight down through the liner so the water actually flows out into the space between the liner and the bed. I told them this is a potential problem but they insisted it would drain out the gap between the bed floor and the rear bed wall. To top it off they gave me this bs that its a "better presentation". At that point I just wanted to take my new truck home. Now I need to go back.

^I've had my Bakflip drain tubes run behind my bedliner and never had a problem in over 16 months now. There is a tiny gap between the bed floor and the rear bed wall that helps drain the water out. It should also drain out underneath the liner as you drive. I pulled my tubes recently and look inside the holes in the liner with a flashlight and didn't see any issues at all.

King,
You can't type and I can't read.

The only spec and installation that website had was for color matched hard covers. No hard folding cover that I could find info on. I really would like to go back to the dealer with something on paper showing the proper install (drain tubes) and parts (foam cab protector).

Well I got the Ford Version yesterday, props to Freedom Ford in Edmonton for the overnight turnaround and free delivery to my business. I installed it last night and it is definitely NOT an F1. I'm not upset about this because I was pretty sure this was the case but I don't want others to think this is what their getting.

I'm not real up to speed on the BakFlip HD but the only difference I think I can detect is that this unit has 4 drain tubes (2 at the front and 2 next to the tailgate). The panels themselves are definitely aluminum (not FRP) with some type of foam sandwiched in the center.

I'll see about posting some detailed pictures this evening.

Frozen,
If it's not too much trouble can you confirm if the protective cab strips were included and if so where were they when you unpacked the cover from the box?

Also, did it come with instructions as I would like to get a copy if possible?

Regards.

Yeah, actually the protective strips were just taped to the underside of the cover. I originally jumped to the conclusion they were missing before I rolled it up for the first time. There was also a loose piece of weatherstripping to be put on the cab rail which I intend to put on tonight.

PM me your e-mail address and I'll send you a pdf version of the instruction manual either tonight or tomorrow. It's small so I may be able to post it as an image on here as well without loosing the detail. I have to warn you, it is pretty limited.

maybe it was an older Ford cover they had in stock that was based off the HD? I've never seen a F1 in person yet but it's my understanding it's only FRP on top but the underside of the panel is still aluminum.

Frozen,
You have a PM.

My cover has a Ford part no. 18309 on the underside of the first folding panel closest to the cab.

Steve,
I was thinking the same thing thats why I want to be sure which one it is before I go ahead and raise a stink with the dealer.

Nope, it's brand new. Ford was sold out in Edmonton for months due to a $1000.00 free accessories with F150 purchase promotion. Part numbers match what the site shows. I'm interested to know what else you can come up with though, it cracks me up. This is pretty well documented on a number of the forums.

For those interested:

Here's the installation instructions that came with the unit for those interested. It's REALLY easy to install.

ok- I can admit when I'm wrong (or at least my inside source that I got the info from was misinformed). I called and they said the Ford OEM is still based off the HD, they haven't upgraded it to the new F1 panels yet...

For those that care, here are numerous people that have already called BakFlip and their results of that conversation.

^thanks, I don't go on the raptor forums. But guys on other F150 forums thought it was like the F1 now too. heck even my "inside source" (a Bakflip dealer who regularly visits the factory) even thought they upgraded it to the F1 specs, but turns out they haven't. Wonder why?
