Fords BakFlip cover?? Price/Name/Part #
Part of the deal when I bought my truck was to get a cover at dealer cost. I heard ford has a cover that's similar to the bakflip. Does anyone have this cover? Anyone know what the cost is so I won't get dupped into "this is our cost, wink wink" type of scenerio?
Thanks

The Ford cover is the same as the Bakflip F1. The F1 costs around $875 or so give or take. The F1 has a 2 year warranty while the Ford version has a 3 year warranty. So it's not really fair to compare it to the G2 version (1 year warranty).
I think the lowest I've even seen someone report getting the Ford cover was around $800, and that was either at cost or they knew someone at the dealer. Normally they cost higher than the Bakflip F1. If you get it at their cost, go for it! It's a great cover. I've had the Bakflip HD model going on 16 months, no leaks, works great.
You should be able to find the Ford cover part numbers on the accessory website: www.fordaccessories.com

I love the dealer cost line
I got the same line from the dealer when I picked up my 2010. They quoted me 986 Canadian. I can't see this being cost or any reason why they would give it to me for cost as the truck was fleet and the dealers make like $125.00 on a fleet truck.
I think I may go ahead at this price as I was quoted nearly the same price for an HD in Canada.

I believe it's a modified HD, not an F1

PS: Bedrug was cheaper at the dealer and in stock in Edmonton vs 4 weeks from anyone else local. That still blows my mind.

$789 CND was added to the FX4 purchase price for their Tri-Fold Hard Cover (that's what the dealer calls it). I ask if it was a Bakflip but they didn't know. When I was at the dealer picking up the truck last week I noticed they missed the 4 drain tubes so they had to bring it back into the shop to install them.
I think the F1 comes with a rubber or foam strip on the last panel that rests against the rear cab (when folded all the way back and up) to prevent scratches but my didn't have this (I ask about it and they said that's how it comes).
Does anyone know how to determine if the panels are aluminum or plastic?

The Ford OEM Bakflip cover should of had the black rear cab strip in the box. I installed mine on a 2010 Harley Truck that I pu in Feb. I didn't realize that the strip was in the box. I had to reinstall the cover again to put it on. The cover gets really hot in the sun. I would assume that it metal. The dealer gave me a discount on it, I think it was around $800. I did call Bak industries and after a few calls Julian sent me six extra clamps. The cover is not perfect but it is a clever design. It does leak a little when it rains if it is parked it on a steep incline. I have taken it on several trips and it has held up well. This is my third pu and I have several covers and this design seems to be the best for what I need it for. I will post some pics when I get my act together and find the cord for my camera.

ks,
You wanted to know the item #, I just checked mine and the sticker says 'Ford Folding Truck Bed Cover 18309".
Does anyone know where to get the installation and parts manual that may have come with this Ford folding hard cover? I want to go back to the dealer to prove the protective strips should have been installed with the cover and also that the drain tubes near the back of the cab should drain outside the box not between the box and the new bedliner they installed.
