is that a 4x4? If so, you got a 36 gallon fuel tank...

re

Ok guys, this is my first posting. regarding the 2010's. i've been a powerstroke guy for 14 yrs when deisel fuel was cheap and we were getting 22mpg at 80mph all day long. After ford destroyed the powerstroke with 13 mpg and fuel prices up, lastly 2 head gasket repairs...i got rid of it. at that time i vowed to never buy another ford. i test drove all the other trucks except for the Jap mods. the hemi had a very nice motor and the GM/Chevy was 2nd. the ford motor sucks as does the throttle response. I ended up with a ford 2010 f150 4x4 crew cab with a 6.5' bed and the 5.4. with the 373 rear. 2 reasons i bought the ford, cargo room in the cabin and 0% financing. About me, im an retired GP motorcycle racer. now at 49 yrs old i still know and love speed which is why im so utterly dissapointed with the motor in my truck. my deisel's in the past have all had at least 400hp & 400ft lbs torque with mods. this f150 is a dog. by the time it gets up & goes, you could easily be dead from another vehicle crashing into you. with all this said, i recently put a leveling kit on the front and im thinking about a few mods to this to improve anything regarding throttle response. Here's where i could use some input. i was told the exhaust is severly restricted. they say to change from from the cat back. my concern is i dont want a loud system and when one does a better flowing system one should do a better breathing system...NO? which intake is the best for this pooch. lastly does anyone have any input on superchips programmers. i used it on my deisels. there's a few programs but i dont want to have to use 91 octane, that 'll get expensive as this pooch averages about 13 or 14 mpg as it is now. im having trouble believing anyone is getting 22 with this engine. either way, if you have helpful input,i'd appreciate it.

Great looking truck. Enjoy it. World of difference from the 04-08 body styles - and I loved my 06.

Maxout,

As a comparison, what mpg were you getting on your 5.4?

I also have a 5.4 with 3.73 gears in my '97 4x4 and I've been looking at a new truck also with 4.6 3v and 3.55 gears but, I'm looking for better gas 0mileage then the 17 highway I'm currently getting.

For a truck thats not even broken in yet to be displaying that kind of mileage is incredible.
I drove 75 miles yesturday and the fuel gauge didnt even move, and it has the same 26 gallon tank my 2005 had. My 05 would have used an entire 1/4 tank with that 75 miles and i could just watch that gauge move while driving in the 05.
So even if fords mpg reader is way off, its still a min of 5mpg better then the 05 so far, who knows if that lasts.

the new truck is the 4.6l 3valve with the 6speed tranny and 3.55 rear, old truck 5.4l with the 4speed tranny and 3.73 rear. Which BTW I noticed NO difference in power between the two and my 05 was tuned, so ford did a good job updating the 4.6l to the newer style.

thanks for all the comments guys!

I was getting 12mpg highway, 10 city with the 05. Your lucky to be getting 17 with that truck at all, lol!
