Who else went from a F250 to F150?

I see a significant trend among many long time diesel folks. I waited for someone to make a heavy half again and it seems Ford did it with the 09-up! I would like to have more power, duh doesn't everyone....

I got out of the diesel due to 6.0L reliability issues, modern emissions hassles with the new DPF, Urea systems, cost and low fuel economy etc...

The 6 spd tranny helps a ton with getting the load going. The 5.4L is good enough. There is always going to be something better 'next year".

I wish I bought a crew cab F250 the first time, I might have kept it. The rear room and flat load floor of the F150 screw in to die for.

We just got back from a 2k mile loop through the CO Rockies. The only thing I missed was my turbo, lol. We haul a 24ft boat, ATV's. JD mower, and 24ft TT with the new truck. It seems to be well built and should last at least ten years...
Sorry for the large pics.
01Lightning was first new Ford truck.

Then the responsible shop truck.
Old rig.
05 F250 fully built. 420hp/765 lb ft tq.

New rig. Trying to keep it stock, leveled.

The kids love it...

Two very nice trucks there. I like that color on the new 150. Seems like Ford has some really nice color options in the new ones. Bet those pups like the room in the new crew cab.

I went from a F-150:
(1999 XLT 4.2 liter)

to a F-250:
(2004 FX4 6.0 diesel)

back to a F-150:
(2010 Lariat 5.4)

This is the longest I have ever owned a stock vehicle...lol. Nothing extreme with this one, probably icon coilovers up front with some 33's, Raptor heads/tails with a FX2 grill and I will probably call it a day.

I had a 2004 F-250 Lariat 4x4 6.0L PSD a few years ago that my dad now uses to haul his tractors on occasion and for other uses around his property. I also had a 2008 F-250 Lariat 4x4 6.4L PSD that I put 52,000 miles on in 15 months but never was overly impressed with the truck. The radiator was replaced twice, the fuel mileage sucked, and after about 30,000 miles it would go into regeneration mode about every 150-200 miles (that's what kills the mileage). The dealer did the PCM reflash and it didn't help any.

I traded the 2008 F250 in on a 2009 F150 4x4 Supercrew in May 2009 and put 42,000 on that truck in 12 months and just sold the 2009 and ordered a 2010 F150. I picked up the 2010 the first week of May and already have 6000 miles on it. I ordered it with the Max Tow package which comes with the 3.73 rearend and I have not missed the F250 at all. The newer F150s have just as much room in the cab, ride much, much better and get way better fuel mileage and gas is much cheaper than diesel right now as well. Don't get me wrong, I like diesels and there is a need for diesels, but a lot of the ones that I see on the road are lifted with big tires, have every piece of chrome you can think attached to them, and are so clean and shiny that you can tell they have never been off of the paved roadway. I have driven them enough over the years to know that they do run a long time and they pull like nothing else but when things break on them it costs big, big money to get them fixed. I hope Ford gets it right with this new diesel. It will be interesting to see what people think once they get 50-60K miles on them in a few years. I also priced a 2011 F-350 King Ranch 4x4 that was at the dealer when I picked up my new truck and the sticker was around $63,000. That is crazy and will probably keep some folks who are on the fence between a F150 or an F250/350 out of a 3/4 or 1 ton anyway.

Pi$$ on F250s!!!!!

F250s are the pimples on a Ford's @$$. Either build a truck or don't IMO.

I have 150's, and I have 350's (cab and chassis). There is no place for in between.

That said, I have demolished 5 6.0's, 4 6.4's, and have just this weekend purchased my second 6.7. If these are no better than the 6.4s, GM, here I come.

If you can accomplish with an F150 what you could originally do with an F250... you had no business buying the 250 in the first place.

My 6.0 Nightmare!

I had an 04 F-350 CC Diesel and heads were off it twice before 100,000kms or 60,000 miles.......turbo vanes sticking....egr valves sticking....etc....
The Dealer kept throwing a TSB in my face about "Cokeing" and that it was basically all my fault....The cost of filters left a bad taste in my mouth along with the $100 deduct everytime......I had it out with Ford on the phone once about the $100 thing and I told them I knew that they were sueing International over 6.0 l warranty issues.......they didnt care at all !

The final straw came when I wanted the Head bolts replaced with studs and said that I would buy them myself ....Ford wouldnt do it...

I dumped that thing and bought a Toyota FJ Cruiser.......that thing was even worse........dumped it for my 09 F-150........and life is good now.........

The consences is that Diesel Buyers are basically Guinnea Pigs for Ford and if this new engine fails to achieve what they wanted Ford will be finished in the Diesel Truck Market Im sure.

Ford shoulda went to Caterpillar years ago and had them supply an Engine....It woulda kicked the crap outta the Cummins

Live and Learn I guess?

I paid my Ford tech 100 bucks and he installed my studs when he did the heads.
Caterpillar got out of the over the road engine business back in 07. They knew it was not going to be possible to make a trouble free engine and meet EPA reqs.
I just buy smaller toys now that I have the F150. I worked the F250 a lot. BTW the only diff between F250 and F350 is a taller rear block. I had the CCDD springs and those are the heaviest even for the F350.

I have an 06' quad cab Dakota, and I need to plow a few properties out in Winter otherwise I would have went with a F150. But, my uncle put $45,000 on a F150 last year, which is what my stciker was. I don't see many F150s plowing, unless it's a see through plow. What's the payload dif? 3000lbs in my F250. I do like riding up high. Acceleration is awsome. Just don't like the *** end kicking out over bumps.

I went from a 2003 F150 SCREW 5.4 4x4 to a 2006 F250 SCREW 4X4 FX4 and now back to a 2010 F150 SCREW King Ranch 5.4 4X4. The F250 was nothing but trouble.

Diesels always gonna pull ahead when compared to the gas engine F150's simply because the power options and torque obviously. Not to mention the reliability of the drivetrain and suspension of the super duty.

I want a F250 bad, but I realized I have no real NEED for one. I just WANT one. I absolutely love my F150. I don't plan on getting rid of it. When the day comes to get a new truck I wall get a diesel and retire the 150 to off road/bug out duty only.

I went from a 08 f350 6.4 cc sb to my 10 F150 5.4 cc sb and I do miss my old truck when it comes to towing, I wish I still had my 99 F250 7.3. I got $34k trade for the F350and was out the door for $33,900 with the F150, sounds good but I still lost allot. The F150 tows ok but I do get more sway than I did with the f350.

With the 6.4 any work done to the engine means cab off so that is the main reason for the trade. My 3 year war. was up and the trade in was ok.

When I am not towing I have no complaints about the f150 except for the a/c, or lack of.

I did it last Sat....went from my 06 F-250 Lariat FX4 to a 2010 F-150 XLT 4x4
My 250 power stroke was a dream truck....bought it last fall with only 31,000 miles on it...second day a sensor went out....18,000 miles later it was in the shop 3 times....one with a failed turbo and I was 7 hours away from Home....So I let it go and got a F-150

2006 F250

2010 F-150
