As you should, Anyone that doesnt lock their tailgate but has a lock on it is an idiot in my opinion and deserves it. Thats exactly why its there, TO LOCK IT. I keep mine locked 24/7, its a habbit. People have stolen tailgates for yeeears, why put yourself at risk when it takes 2 seconds to lock it..?

With lock or no lock, you can install a small hose clamp over the end of the rod and the slotted receiver of the hinge. This keeps it from being lifted out until it is removed.

We had those around here for Rita and Ike. I even saw a huge flat screen tv that was damaged and they painted it with that saying on it and put it in the front yard.
