Tailgate stolen.

Lock yours if you can.

Family member just got theirs taken while parked in the front yard at night. $1000+ from the dealer and insurance won't cover since he didn't have comprehensive.

What year truck? It must have been an older truck with no comprehensive insurance. It still sucks, none the less!

Don't know where you're from, but in Texas if you are financing your vehicle you have to have full coverage insurance including comprehensive.

That sucks man.

My Ole Man

This topic reminds me of when I was knee high to a Grasshopper......We were on the way to the Lake for Summer Holidays and stopped in some small town for some lunch......when we came out some Idiot had the tailgate down and was trying to break into our camper.........My Father grabbed him by the hair and slammed him into the rear door of the camper and while he was getting his bearings .....the Ole Man took his fingers and put them between the tailgate and the body and slammed the gate closed...........I remember the clicking sound the latch made when it closed and breaking fingers along with the screaming....
We got the hell outta town quickly........lol
That guy probably hates trucks to this day.........

Im sure he didnt steal your gate!

Try this place.........they get lots of late model Vehicles and Parts

I think there was a write up for securing your tail gate, do a search for when you get the new one. Think patman did it.

As for mine it's ALWAYS locked plus I've got a hard cover on it.

Sorry to hear about the theft--------I HATE PUNKS!!!!

Last year, my tailgate was damaged by some idiot in a parking lot who didn't even bother to leave a note or anything. All of the estimates that I got were to repair the tailgate. I really wished I had just said that it had gotten stolen, but I was honest. Finally, I found a shop that would replace the entire tailgate. The cost was about the same to repair or replace, so I guess the shops that wanted to repair it just wanted the extra labor charges. My comprehensive deductible was $100 at the time. Now it's $500, so I hope it doesn't happen again. Mine is always locked too.

One of the first things I was told when I bought my F-150 was to lock the tailgate,as the dealer had several stolen off of trucks on the lot right before I picked up my truck. I never really thought about it, but mine has the rearview camera and they are stolen quite often in this area. It is very expensive to replace them, as the OP noted. I lock mine always.

I especially like the pic of the bandana headed, cheap sunglassed dude, casually walking down the street with a tailgate tucked under his arm.

That link is hilarious. "Maybe it'll sell better if we put an unrelated picture of a chick next to it"
