^ Is there a weight limit warning with that step? Just curious. I would hope they would have it set to around 300 lbs or so, for the exact reason you mention - weight of person and any cargo they may be loading up.

I just had mine Line-Xed but I kept the pole and cover stock. He Line-Xed the tailgate up to the edge of the tailgate cover. I like having the pole since my balance is not as good as it used to be and I fall over from time to time (especially after the 3rd beer)

I do like what you did and I think it turned out very nice!

I'm short and the step is handy for that, but I'm impatient and don't take the time to use it. I dig the thought of getting the metal panel and losing the stripper pole. Does it come primed/painted? Just curious. Great idea, thanks!

It comes black. Would need to be either painted or Line-Xed.

If I want to keep the pole, I don't use it but, I see no need to discard it, can I simply remove the plastic and just have it sprayed w/o ordering the metal part affore mentioed?

You can just take the black plastic tail gate cover piece off and keep the pole but that area the panel normally covers would be left wide open. Not really an option.

Just ordered the parts from TascaParts.com (had to call, something wrong with credit card processing). Panel $46.12, bolts $1.08 (x8). I called my local dealer for a price quote and they quoted $88 for the panel!!

Looks good! I'm getting ready to have my bed Line-X'd, too. How much did that run you, and which shop did it?

I finally got the part (undamaged after first one received had bent corners everywhere). After removing tons of screws, lifting the plastic cover off, then removing the actual handle assembly (6 screws), I tried putting the new panel on and found it didn't fit. I had to cut off 2 plastic tabs that were preventing the new panel from sitting flat on the metal the way it was supposed to. Quickly cut those tabs off, put the panel in and screwed it down. I'll be making my LineX appointment very soon.

You haven't lived life until you've done 110mph in a Yugo

I have been there and done that in my old 1990 Yugo convertible .

Love the Line-x cover for the gate. Will check to see if will work on the 08 Superduty gate I have.
