In addition to oil changes, the secrets for long turbo life are a) Don't stomp on it till it's warmed up and b) let it idle for a minute before shutting down to allow the turbo to spool down.

These Garrett water cooled turbos do not require a cooling off period before shutdown.

Ford ran the ecoboost at maximum power for 10 minutes, then shut off the engine without allowing the turbos to cool off. They repeated this proces 1500 cycles and found no damage to the turbos when they cut them apart for analysis

I believe the 6.2 in upper trims is a cafe thing.. when you throw it up there and add a premium of say 5000$ it looks like a premium of 5000$ but when you figure a person that only needs the xlt but really wants that engine and jumps up to a larient with a max tow package.. then they are spending an additional 10000$

good marketing on fords behalf. we all hate it but that is why ford is making money and not looking for government bailout money..

Exactly. CAFE only allows so many 6.2's to be sold without violating the standards, so put them in the highest profit vehicles - and the Superdutys which really NEED it and don't have to comply with CAFE - yet.

I heard some other website say the Lariat was not getting the 6.2

True or false?

There appears to be a disagreement. Where is the source other than pickuptrucks.com?
