I have a 07 that I love and I'm keeping as of now but I wouldn't mind having a 2011 6.2 Harley with the 2010 paint scheme (the 2011 HD paint scheme is horrible).

2010 lariat 5.4 is good to go. No need for a 2011 imo.

I'm waiting for the model with the Flux Capacitor option, so I can finally deal with all of these annoying little 4.6L 3V's

The 5.0L for 2011 has a lower tow rating than the 5.4L I presently have. And the 6L doesn't have a higher tow rating than the current 5.4L.

The 5.4L is reliable, proven, and parts readily available. Nope, I see no reason to even entertain the idea. Pleased with what I bought, nothing tempting in the 2011 lineup for me.

But the 6.2 can actually tow the 11,300 lbs where for the 5.4 its " I think I can, I think I can"

The 6.2 as far as I have read only has 30ftlbs more TQ than the 5.4! I'm sure 30ftlbs would make a little difference but not that much more to pay the premium they are asking.

Well if I put in premium I get 365 ft lbs in the 5.4L and 434 in the 6.2L for a diff of 69 ft lbs.

If you put e85 in a 09+ 5.4 L you get up to 390 ft lb so even then its 44 ft lbs.

I think if you read any review of the Raptor with the 6.2L (where they are amazed with the improvement provided by the 6.2L) you will then possibly think otherwise?

http://www.fourwheeler.com/roadtests...ive/index.html

"And this was on 87-octane gasoline, where the 6.2L is rated at 401 horsepower and 434 lb-ft of torque. So the 6.2L in the Raptor puts out more horsepower and almost as much torque at the wheels as the 5.4L (310 horsepower/365lb-ft) is rated at the crank-absolutely incredible. "

I think even if the 5.4 could only do 365ftlbs the 6.2 still don't offer a big enough improvement over the 5.4 to justify the price. I'm sure over the years they will increase the power from the engine like they did with the 5.4 but for now it seems a waste of money upgrade. If we were talking 500ftlbs then maybe yes.

It's still crazy in my eyes that the 6.2 currently only does 44ft lbs more than the 5.4 can though. Are the figures for the 6.2 with e85 or do they not take advantage of e85!

6.2 didn't need any e85 trickery to get an improvement.

The 5.0 is truely a remarkable engine. I love it in my Mustang. It is smooth like a euro sedan, makes great power and gets good mileage. However, I agree, I will be keeping my 2010 F-150 with the 5.4 for a long time. It is a great truck (except the A/C), tows well and is paid for. I also agree that the 6.2 would have to have some better numbers for it to be worth the extra money for me.

Why would I downgrade from my awesome 4.2L?

That's about a full load of hay for most farmers. I tow that much (and more) with my F250 SRW every year. It depends on the number of hay cutting and production made but anywhere from 25 to 40 trips per year. Luckily it's not far for me- less than one mile.

The truck has the slide in camper package, and the helper spring just barely touches on the rear axle. the BFG's are rated at over 3000 lbs each. The 20' gooseneck weighs 3500 empty, and hay weighs about 8250 or 10,500 depending on how many I stack on it.

When I get a new F150, I will add a B&W hitch and Firestone air bags and haul the hay. I will however keep the load down to 11 bales which will be around 11,750 lbs total for trailer and hay. My old 92 with the 351 could pull it, I am sure that a 6.2 or ecoboost can as well.

I will say however if I was towing many miles, through mountains or pulling a fiver across country I would keep my 3/4 ton or buy a new one. Most load that I tow are around 8000 lbs max and the F150 should handle that easily. I tow about 20% and the rest is either empty or with some lumber, feed, etc in the bed.

Not much use for a dually unless you have one heck of a pin weight.

My 2010 isn't going anywhere! I love my truck, and I'm the type of person that likes to have a vehicle for a long time. I gave up my Jeep that I had for five years (my first vehicle basically) for this truck, and I almost cried. If there hadn't been extenuating circumstances, I wouldn't have given him up. Hopefully, Ace and I will be together for ten years :-)
