Which should I buy: 2010 or 2011

Decisions, decisions, Which should I buy: 2010 or 2011

The plan has been to get another truck in the next 3 - 9 months, didn’t really want to buy just yet as my dad is going to take mine over in the spring.

What do you think I should buy a 2010 (5.4L 3-valve, with the fixed plug design) or a 2011 with the all-new 5.0L (and who knows what kind of problems)?

Back in 2003 when I bought my last one, the 2004’s were out, and I heard about the new hi-tech, 3-valve mumbo-jumbo, super-duper engine, that along with the price difference led me to get the 2003 with the proven, (and finally fixed spark plug thread problem). Could this be deja vue, not saying a plug issue, but I don’t really want to lay down almost 40-large to be part of the Ginny-pig experiment with new engine. (for example, just today I heard the completely new V6 engine at Chrysler, in the new Jeep Grand Cherokee and eventually in about a dozen other platforms is having some oil burning issues)

Your thoughts/recommendations please…….

I really want buckets with the floor shifter, but my initial dealer lot shopping revels very few FX4’s or Lariat’s with exterior colors and options I like/want,. Looks like Ford did a massive run of XLT’s with Chrome & Sync Package at the end of the model year, many of which have buckets, but not floor shifter and full console. If I buy a 2011, I negotiate with a dealer and order one, with just the options and colors I want. If I buy a 2010, I'll likely get a lot more rebates, currently its $4,500 total and surely another $1,000 - $2,000 once September hits and they want to start making room for the 2011's.

Buy the 2010 , do you really need the new motor? If you REALLY need the extra horses then wait!!
And as far as getting the truck you want , get your dealer to do a search and find the one you want and do a dealer trade to get it for you.

You will get a better deal on a 2010, you can bet your *** on that, and the difference in engines output isnt huge, especially if you get a 5.4
