Vibration while driving????

I've got a 2010 XLT screw. I got it in April, and it has just over 6k miles on it.

It started doing this weird vibration while driving between 35-42ish mph. It's almost like driving on a washboard gravel road, only not as intense. At first I thought it maybe it was out of balance. But then I started noticing it only does it when I accelerate slowly. I tried 3 different tests. I accelerated slowly, medium, and fast to 50 mph and coasted back down to 30. The only time it ever vibrated was during slow acceleration at 35-42ish mph. It never did it when coasting, or if I let off the gas. It's never been off road, I've never hit any curbs or anything.

Any thoughts before I take it in?? Appreciate it.

Possibly a drive shaft vibration?

If it weren't such a new truck, I'd say it's a low grade misfire.

So I am assuming this would covered under the 12k mi/ 12 mo warranty for new purchases.

bet you got a 4.6l 3v correct there is a tsb for the torque convertor and you get a 3yr/36000 mile bumper to bumper and 5/60 powertrain warranty

I have experienced the same problem. I have a 2010 scab xlt with 5000 mi. I took it in and they replaced the torque converter. The problem still existed so they contacted Ford and was given a software update. This did not work either. After three weeks in the shop, the conclusion is that this particular problem is slowly being reported by dealers everwhere and now the Ford engineers are supposively looking for an answer. As soon as they find a solution they will be contacting customers thru VIN#s. Until then, they said other than an annoyance it really is not a major problem.

I had the same problem in exactly the same speed range. To check the dealer drove a new truck that was on the lot and it did not vibrate...some call it a shudder. He pulled that drive shaft and installed it in my truck. Problem cured!! He looked over the removed drive shaft and didn't see anything apparently wrong but anyway the problem is gone. The entire drive shaft was replaced including the u-joints and carrier bearing.

I can make the vibration / drone show up consistently when I shift the truck to 3rd gear and drive at 1800-2000rpm (which is around the 35mph range). My dealer gave me the it's normal excuse because another new truck on the lot was doing it as well.

Check out my post, we have very similar issues. Ford is trying to avoid admitting there is a problem but there are way too many people on here and other blogs saying very similar things.

I did read that post and thought our trucks had very similar problems. My tech put it on the hotlist (I think thats what they called it) and said he would keep in touch if anything came up. It is really annoying when your in the drone zone where it vibrates. My route to work is a gentle downhill road and 3rd gear helps maintain the correct speed....problem is it puts me right where the vibration is. On my truck it only shows up unders slight acceleration but not coasting.

Get copies of each work order and document all contacts, dates time and etc. Attorneys who take-on lemon law issues will take this on pro-bono. Do a search on line for those who work lemon laws.

UPDATE:

Just picked it up yesterday. They replaced the torque converter, I'm assuming per the TSB that's out. They had to replace an exhaust sensor due to damage during removal of the exhaust system. So far so good. No vibrating. Will keep you guys posted. Just had my "Tire Pressure Sensor Fault" warning come on. So I'll be calling tomorrow to take it back in to have them fix it. I'm guessing they damaged the sensor somehow during repair.
