Offer to dealer

I went to see a Ford dealer about a 2010 Ford Lariat.

I used the spreadsheet found at http://www.carbuyingtips.com/car4.htm to negotiate but the problem was my trade-in.

However I would like to hear from people who work at a Ford dealer whether this spreadsheet is accurate or needs adjustment.

I found the invoice price at KBB.com.

Once I sell my car I will just fax a bunch of Ford dealers my offer spreadsheet and tell them the price closest to mine wins.

I can't answer your question, but I found a website the other day that may help you a little. It seems about right to me. www.truecar.com

Thanks. Great website. It looks pretty close to the spreadsheet mentioned above.

Just understand that the "invoice price" shown at KBB or Edmunds, and probably your site as well, does not include the local advertising fees (FDAF) or the cost of fuel at the factory. The two of them together could add up to between $500 and $1000 additional.

Well I take out the advertising fees and cost of fuel in my negotiations.

I guarantee when gas gets up to $4.00/ gallon my leverage will be high.

I would contact dealers through their email. State exactly what you want and let them give you a price. It becomes easier to play them against each other and easier to negotiate. The only problem I have with giving them a offer is what if you could do better. You are kind of showing your cards first.

Also you may want to go to blueovalforums and request a x-plan pin from a Ford employee, if you think you can't do better than x-plan.

I am shopping for a new 2010 Lariat 4x4 for my son. Right now i have a couple of offers from dealers with about 10K off msrp which is around 47k. But these prices do include the 1000 rebate from ford credit which we really dont want to mess with.

There's also a 'customer loyalty' rebate that varies from 500 to 2500 but i havent found out details of that offer.

Keep in mind, true dealer cost is below their 'dealer invoice' because of hold-backs and other discounts mfr offers to dealers.

Now, if i can just get another 1-2 grand off pricing we will pull the trigger.

$10K off MSRP for a Lariat, before the FMC credit, is about right.

Here in Canada they gave me $13,000 off MSRP before I walked in the door!!! I got another $2,000 more off as well as they gave me an additional $2,500 more for my 2008 Ford Edge AWD LTD. I was not really interested in buy right then, but the price was too good to refuse. In total I received 28% off the MSRP for a FX4 SCREW Luxury with NAV, Camera, 20" wheels, Moonroof, hard cover, bed liner and 72 month Premium plan warranty. Final cost was $41,500. I could of gotten a Lariet for a few grand more; loaded as above. I just did not want chrome.

Usually the prices are about 10% HIGHER in Canada which makes many here go down to the States to buy for less. Usually well worth the trip but in my case I seem to have gotten it for less!! Google Erinwoodford in Mississauga for their on-line stock with pricing. They even have an additional $1,000 off for Costco members.
