This is all good for econo cars, but not trucks. I think Ford will be alienating many people if they make these the mainstream engines for the majority of their vehicles.

Yeah, because nobody wants better fuel economy with the same or more power and towing ability along with equal longevity.

I'm LMAO at all the naysayers. Why is everyone ragging on the EB? It's not like Ford is forcing you to buy an EB. They've given the buyer 3 additional options this year ffs.

I for one can't wait to see the EB shine and prove all the Neanderthals wrong.

In THIS thread, you are correct. But they're all over the place. Every thread on here with the word EB has naysayers. Read comments in online articles and they're all over the place...

I've got my fingers crossed that Ford hits a home run with this engine. I'm going to give it a few months to see what people have to say. If it's good, I'll be driving a new one next Spring.

I think this just proves that people are generally slow to accept any change. When the 5.0 was dropped the first time it was the end of the world because the "new" modular engines just would not work. Now we need better MPG, and the cry is again, the EcoBoost just won't work for a truck. In 2 years, these same people will be talking about the 75HP boost they got from a tune on their EcoBoost engine and how it stomps a Chevy.

Lots of folks are slow to accept change, and even openly oppose it, but when they finally see how it benefits them personally, they take credit for pioneering the said change - hey, that is why we have the Republican party. hahahahahahahahahaha

I must be a neanderthal because id take a large v8 over the first run of a turbo v6 in a truck.

Ill be happy with my 5.4. I think the EB will be great so long as it can actually tow just as well as the 5.0 and 6.2. We will see soon enough, hopefully it turns out to be just as a reliable towing platform as the 5.4 and even the 4.6 did alright. Time will tell.

alex, I agree.

Fordman, you are positive about the longevity of that EB in the F-150, huh. Oh yeah, I guess everyone forgot, it hasn't even been released into production yet, so how can you make such a claim?

not in a truck, but its in production for over a year now and heavy use in the Taurus Interceptor models. if they can withstand the beating that cops give engines im sure the longevity in a truck wont need to be argued.
