2010 Platinum tires & spare

I just bought a platinum, I have 4 Pirelli Scorpions. I just looked at my spare and it is a Goodyear Wrangler. Should have I gotten a Pirelli spare instead ?

Yeah, I have an 18in Pirelli spare. So I would assume you should too.

I don't think so. I have a 2009 FX4 that came with Pirelli Scorpion 20s. My spare is a Goodyear Wrangler LT275/65R18. Dimensionally this tire is the exact size as the 20s you have on your truck. I believe your truck is correct. The spare rarely matches the vehicle tires. This is, of course, just my experience.

I believe if you have a 4x4 truck, the spare has to be the same size as the stock tires. Otherwise the spare is usually smaller. For a 4x4, brand doesn't matter, just size.

That's normal for Platinum's. I believe it's also true if the truck has the optional 20" wheels (other then Platinum's).

Remember the only factor that is important with the spare is the overall diameter. If your stock tires have a OD of say 32", your spare should have that OD too. If the truck is a 4x4, and you're tires are a different OD then the spare. You can have issues running the spare, if you turn on 4 wheel drive. And if you have a 4x4 or 4x2 with a limited slip, you want to run the same OD sized tires on that axle or you can do damage.

I would have felt alot better if 1) it had a Pirelli spare , 2) my buddy didn't catch that before I did. ( LOL ) I just thought for the money at least they could have had matching tires. Being that it is in their " Top " level trim packages.

I don't think it matters the brand of tire for the spare. The spare is just to get you to your next destination until you can get your flat fixed.

BTW, I have 20" Pirelli tires on my Lariat but a 18" Pirelli for the spare.
