The whole reason Ford moved the plate to the side on the EB is to provide as much air as possible to the intercooler mounted right behind the opening in the front bumper. Cover it if you like, but you'll increase your intake air temperature, decreasing performance.

Its like I said earlier, someone is going to put a bull bar or brush guard and its not going to overheat. Maybe in Texas but not up here!
I'll just add some water wetter (sic?) and it'll be all good.

You can see that if you had the top of the plate flush with the bottom of the bumper hole, there is still tons of air being "caught" by the new lower air dam.
