new truck, now new trailer

Hey folks..
Since getting my 150 in June, we figured we needed something to pull .. so we just bought a Jayco Jay Flight 23'. New to travel trailers.
The truck is 5.4, 2wd w/3.55 limited slip, tow package.
The trailer reads 4480 lbs dry with a 525 lb hitch weight. GVR 6500 lbs.

Just checking.. the truck is more than adequate, yes ?

thanks

look in the brochure in the ford website which has the trailer ratings as per truck model. Here's what I did for my supercrew, 5.4 3.55 with tow; ie my formula to determine how heavy a trailer I can pull;
gcwr 15300, less truck weight ie 5500= 9800 trailer weight ( with no payload on truck) , then subtract the max payload 1750lbs assuming you max out the payload on your truck,= 8050 lbs left for a trailer load ( a conservative number (just the way I do it). Not sure about the hitch weight, which I thought was 500 lbs.
Sooo, you are fine. There are several examples in the owners guide also under towing.

don't forget the people you plan to take and your weight as well will need to be subtracted from that as well.

Well I guess me and my wife then won't be pulling a trailer.

I second that. Get the OEM factory brake controller if you don't have it.

Your truck will be fine. I tow a Jayflight 26BH with my truck, and love it. Definately get the Integrated Brake Controller.

I'm towing a Jayco 213 with almost the exact same numbers. I've got the Max Tow package with the 3.73 rear and it tows very well.

The factory trailer brake controller is the best I've ever used and I highly recommend getting one installed. It works directly off the truck's braking system rather than being gyro/inertia activated so it seamlessly activates the trailer brakes with your brake pedal. Very smooth with no delay.
