GM Powertrain specs require components to last 150k for car powertrains and 200k for truck powertrains.

Kind of disappointed to see only 150k for the new engines, well the EB and 6.2anyway. I wonder what they have to say about the 5.0.

I have 120k on my 5.4 I hope she has more than a 150k lifespan.

I think some of you are taking the 150k mile thing a little too literally. All of Ford's vehicles are rated to 150k miles (yes, even the current 2010 F150s with the 4.6L and 5.4L). Meaning they do not expect any major failures to happen within 150k miles. After 150k miles, is anyone's guess. Depends on what the vehicle was used for. At any rate, it does not mean that as soon as 150k miles are up, the engines are finished and you are looking at big repair bills.

And I don't know about you guys, but in any of my vehicles, the vehicle usually falls apart long before the engine gives up.

 

But, but it's printed on that piece of paper. The engines will all miraculously fail at 150k miles!!

Now that Dunesgirl and Rambo have destroyed the Ecboost only 150k myth, we can focus on other things. But one more point, Ford has already put 150k on one of their EB engines and it is still going. They will take that same engine through that extreme timber logging test and then on to the track towing two cars at full throttle for 24 hours straight, and then if that was not enough they will take the same engine and put it in a race truck for the Baja 1000 and lastly they will take it apart to show how durable the parts really are and that they last longer than 150k. If that doesn't prove how tough this engine is nothing will.

 

Yes, 150k miles of extreme load testing on the dyno, then the timber hauling and race track towing, and then the baja. All on the same engine. Wonder how many hard miles will be on it after that?

 

I picked up on it several times... but, then again, we were out on the road, towing and were basically able to do whatever we wanted with the trucks. Our course wasn't nearly as closed as the public event -- the exhaust notes on the 3.7 were pretty normal - not much to speak of.

The 5.0 and 6.2 sounded KILLER, in my opinion.
