Anyone upgrade their stock speakers

I want to upgrade, but want to not have drilling and maintain all the stock looks. Any ideas on mid's or tweeters? I posted in the speaker forum but those seem to be geared towards older trucks.

I changed out all four of my speakers and it was very easy. They are considered either 6X8 or 5X7s. I put Polk Audios in mine and they improved the sould tremendously. I added a sub and really made it sould a lot better. If you have the base model stereo, like I do, it has very little power, so I added an amp to the 4 door speaks and a sub and amp as well. really sounds great and the Sync still works and I didn't have to change the head unit.

If you buy new speaks, be sure and get the little Ford wire adaptors for each speaker. That way you don't have to splice into any factory wiring.

Crutchfield is where I got mine...Polk db571 (?) I think. The came with the adapter clips and fit in the stock holes, the sound better but I definitely need an amp, the stock headunit looks good but not much power.

You have two screws at the bottom, and a bolt behind the little black piece behind the door latch, and then that little plastic piece at the back that goes up along side the glass comes off and there is a bolt behind it. I think that is all and it should lift up and out, just like the fronts.

I also have the Polks, and they sound good, except the they don't really have much bass to them at all. Added an amp to them, and they were so so. Put in a sub and wow, they sound great with a sub.

I agree about the speakers i just got a 2010 F-150 XLT Supercab 4X4.I traded a 2009 Ranger FX4 that had the optional Pioneer Stereo that thing rocked.I love the F-150 but agree the stereo and speakers could have been better.

Later Mark.

I gotz to agree........Alltho I can live with them, if I do make any mods, replacing the new improved soup cans that the FoMoCo passes off as speakers and puts in these trucks will be my priority. The OE speakers wouldn't even make good boat anchors.
I'm constantly adjusting the bass so it doesn't overpower the POS.

Something is just night right, I got into my cousins Flex with stock speakers and that thing was bumping. I am starting to think someone is trying to pull a fast one, I really doubt Ford would put this **** in a truck that stickers 40k. I am waiting for Ashton Kutcher to pop up and say YOU JUST GOT PUNKED!

I added 2-35 W RMS Pioneer 5x7's to my stock '07 Stereo and it made a night and day difference in the bass & treble performance. Crutchfield throw's in the harness when buying their speakers or head units.

I bought the Infinity reference 6832's for all four from Crutchfield since they throw in the factory harness adapter free. A super value and great sound. since they are 2 ohm speakers they play louder on a stock system. I am very happy with them on the stock head unit.

+1 when i was 16 i had a 94 oldsmobile bravada that had better sound. lol

i swapped all my door speakers in my FX2 out for some alpine 5x7s. sounds 10 times better but i still need a sub with amp for some bass and another amp to put more power to the door speakers.
