Rear end option question 2011

3.73 AXLE RATIO W/ELECTRONIC LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL
(REQ: 99F Engine) (REQ: 55A Off-Road Pkg)
Code: XL6
What is the difference between this and the regular limited slip rear end?

I believe this is the locking diff, whereas the standard rear is not a locker.

So it there a button you push to lock the two axles together and other times they will free wheel like an open differential? Can the locker be engaged all the time if you so desire? Can you make a turn with the axles locked together?

Sorry if these are stupid questions. Trying to learn.

That's the basics of an electronic locker - locked when you need it, unlocked for daily driving.

I wouldn't worry too much about turning with it locked, considering you'll be driving in less than ideal conditions when locked and the tires will slip a bit due to the slippery surface.

A front locker will give you fits when turning, the rear doens't affect turning ability near as much.

Its the same as what the 09/10 FX4 have just now offered on other trim levels. It works in 4x4 only and will come out of "locked" mode at certain mph. It actually is the 4x4 dial/**** that you pull toward you when you want to engage it.
