My 2010 FX2 Screw with 5.4 and 3.55 and 18" wheels is doing the same thing. I actually dropped it at the dealer today and they are supposed to look at it tomorrow. Hopefully they can resolve the issue. They already greased the driveshaft last time I was in there so we will see...Well no luck. They documented it, but were unable to duplicate

Don't have my owner's manual with me, but this slow speed shaking when starting out is normal and is mentioned in the manual.

Seriously? I guess i have to pull my manula out and find that section. It almost feels like the truck is trying to torque its self through the light braking.

I have the electronic version of the manual and did not find any mention of this.

It does mention the fuel saving feature that causes a slight braking sensation when you let your foot off the gas pedal, but that's a different thing.

My truck also does this "shake" but I have to literally be crawling less than 1 MPH to feel it. I think its just a characteristic of the tranny.

I believe it is in reference to flat spot on the tires after being parked. Can't remember what section it was in. Either way that should go away after a few miles anyway.

It's definitely not the tires on mine. The frequency of "pulsing" that is felt is much faster than the rotation of the wheels. For example, in a slow crawl, in one rotation of the tire, you may feel something like 4 pulses. This rules out brakes or tires. I think its tied to the speed of the driveshaft rotating or some other internal gear or part spinning in the transmission. Seeing that the ratio in first gear is 4.17:1, this would sound about right. It could even be the feeling of the gear teeth meshing together at such a slow speed whereas at higher speeds it is not noticeable. At least that's what it feels like to me.

it sounds like you have take off shudder. I've only experienced in lifted trucks with incorrect pinon angles. Doesn't sound like this should be normal from a stock truck

Found it

Not sure this is what you're experiencing, but here's the owner's manual language I mentioned earlier:

On page 280 of my 2010 owner's manual, in the Driving chapter under the AdvanceTrac section:

"When AdvanceTrac with RSC performs a normal system self-check, some drivers may notice a slight movement of the brake, and/or a rumble, grunting, or grinding noise after startup and when driving off."

There is a consistent, slight shuddering when I first start up and begin to drive off. It never happens once the truck has warmed up and I'm, say, pulling away from a stop light. It's only upon first startup and pulling away, and it's very slight. I've attributed it to the AdvanceTrac self-check described above.

Ahhh, thanks for the reference SCWatts. I did see that also, but its a different condition. The condition that the manual states only occurs when you first drive away after starting the engine. This self check it refers to happens at about 12 MPH when you first drive away and is a slight click that you hear.

The condition the OP is talking about happens all the time. If you are stopped and release the brake ever so slightly to allow the truck to inch forward, you can feel a pulsing sensation and the truck feels like it is shaking slightly as the driveshaft begins to turn. This only happens in a dead slow crawl however.

Something to consider

Actually you bring up something that I have been considering bringing on the forum but it might just be an answer to this thread. Looking at my stock 2010 XLT SCab I swear it looks like it has a lift on it. The truck definetly sits much higher than earlier year stock F150s. Someone in an earlier thread had mentioned something about the newer F150s having a stock 1" lift block on them. I may be off the mark here but maybe GC might be on to something with the suspension being involved.

I don't know much about mechanics of a truck but I'm pretty sure its the tranny. Some pulsations are much stronger than others. Feels like the clutch isn't working properly and the engine is about to die.

dtexan....any word from the dealer??

wow am i glad to see this is not just in my head!

i have try ed to get in to dealer in my 2010 xlt on 18's for same damn thing.

i was told (by dealer) to push the button that had the pic of the truck on it with squiggle lines from the wheels and see if it helped before i brought it in?

once i did this it seemed to stop it most of the time so i say its the advanced track or RSC on the truck. its like it is applying a pulse to the breaks. ether way ford will be fixing it or ill get a new damn truck!

one more thing dealer asked it it shifts funny from 1st to 2nd wonder why thay asked that? what more could be wrong?

just kinda makes me mad $40,000 on a truck and have to play dealer games!

thanks for letting me rant and sorry didn't want to jack the thread!

hmmmm....my truck shifts wierd from first to second! Wonder what that means?!? I also tried to get that fixed but I was told there was nothing they could do. Maybe it is an issue with the tranny?!?!
