Shaky Slow Ride

Ever since I bought my 2010 FX4 SCrew I noticed that at really slow speeds (1-5mph) the truck shakes. Notice it mostly when crawling in traffic or backing out of a tight parking spot. Well, I finally just took it to the dealer and they said that is just the way the truck is. I said no way Ford would make a $45,000 truck and it shakes like this. So, I made them bring up another brand new 2010 Fx4 and it did the same exact thing!!

Anyone else notice this on their truck? Is this really normal?? What is causing the shaking?

My 2010 FX4 does that all the time. I sit in a lot of traffic cause I live in the Hampton Roads area of VA. I don't know why it does. I thought I already warped the rotors. I'm glad other owners are experiencing the same thing. This means I don't need to put new rotors under the truck. It does annoy me though.

I have the 18's on my FX4. I'm not sure what causes it but I'm used to it now.

Check your lug nut torque.

As soon as I got my F150 I loosened every lug nut (slightly) and retorqued to 150 ft-lbs.

There about 3 lug nuts that must have been at 200 ft-lbs because with a cheater bar it took a lot of effort to loosen.

Think about how tight the oil filter is put on at the factory and imagine if a few lug nuts were put on with that much torque.

I have the 18's on my Fx4 as well. Everything is stock.

I originally thought it was a warped roter as well. But the more I pay attention to it the more I think its the transmission. Does that make any sense?

I dont know what to think. I am going to try re TQ'ing my lugs and see if this helps.

I thought it was the road I was on when this happened to me. I am not in traffic too much but did notice this behavior entering a traffic filled highway on a down sloping onramp. I have 18" wheels 2010 XLT.

100% the exact same thing here...18 wheels also...FX4. It basically happens when there is still just slight braking pressure applied.

Checking the lugs is a very good idea... but I don't think it's the cause of this problem. It almost feels like a braking issue. I notice it when slowing down for a red light/stop sign. 18" alloys on my truck.

Well thank god I'm not the only one with the issue. Seems like a lot of people have the same problem. I've been to two dealers and they won't do anything about it. They just say that's how the truck is designed.

I have LS with 3.73 gears. Could that be the common thread? Yes, it does occur during light braking or just letting off the brakes.

I don't think so. I have the 3.73 with E-locker. I think it has to do with the 6 speed trans and maybe the 18" wheels.
