can not beat displacement, I know some people at ford at got an 2010 FX4 as I knew it would not have the 6.2 as an option and dont want to jump into an untested 5.0. I don't like the lariat due to leather and cheap wood trim. I am not about to jump in to new engines that have only been tested in light duty (cars) applications. The 6.2 was made for the super duty and is an high end option for the F150. I say give it 2 or 3 years and we will get in in all but the lowest trim levels. Turbos/supercharges always have very high heat issues heat is bad for all things.
So is the Mustang considered a "light duty" application? Far as I hear (and have seen), some GT Mustangs get the snot beat out of them and I haven't heard of any issues arising There's already several new 5.0L Mustangs that have been supercharged without showing any bad signs. Honestly, I think the Mustang would see more harsh use than, say, a Taurus SHO (EB). And I would be totally fine taking either engine.

But, to each their own.

I think it will be a long wait for the 6.2 to be offered in expanded numbers in the F150. I figure it will go completely the opposite direction.

I agree with tstjohn. I highly doubt the 6.2L will be available in more trims than it is now. It would kill Ford on their CAFE numbers; that's why it's only available in certain trims and/or with certain packages, and also why it's such an expensive option at that. CAFE standards are only getting more strict. If anyone is dead set on a 6.2L F150, they better get it while the getting's good!

If they do something with the 6.2L, it will be adding direct fuel injection, dual over cam...

It will make more power and be more fuel efficient, BUT will they put it in the F150...

I wonder if it would really sell. I know us power hungry forum guys want it for the most part, but what about the avg Joe Sixpack?

I look at GM. 09+ they offer the 6.2l in many trim levels and its almost impossible to find one. Or see one. (pipe out the back vs. side on 5.3L) Most GM schmucks are happy with the blah 5.3L.

And to finish my point... we now have two engines available, both easily surpass the 5.3L in every measure.

Ford today said that mpg figures on the 6.2 are 12/17 and that's for a 2wd version. Still want one?

keyword diesel.

OP - if you want a truck with the 6.2 and not all the chrome, woodgrain, and all the other lame fancy stuff, then get an F250.

it doesnt matter what fuel it burns, it still makes heat.

i'll start posting links to the thousands of turbo charged VW engines, WRX's, Lancers, Porsches and then all the supercharged vehicles too.

hey check out the blower on this thing!

the posters argument is completely invalid, not to mention i doubt ford would let anything happen within their control to tarnish the name they're building for themselves in the emerging automotive cold-war between ford and toyota. but if he still wont buy the concept, then so be it - im sure he has a reason.

I would say if you want a 6.2L get a raptor! There is no chrome anywhere on those things. And yes the 6.2L get crap for mpg's. I get 12 average.

X2....i've read and been told buy a Ford employe that Ford wants to improve there fuel economy by about 5% each year. so if there's more 6.2L out there it wont help.on the other hand if they put more EB out there well you get the pic.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the 6.2 disappear completely from the F-150 in the next few years.
