Factory preset heat/cool fan speed?

I noticed that if I leave the heater or a/c on when I shut the truck off the fan speed will always be a the 5th position when I go back and restart the truck.

Is this a standard preset feature or can this be turned off so that the fan speed stays where you leave it when the engine is shut off?

Mine stays unless auto is on. Take it to the dealer.

DAQ - The light is lit up when auto is on and not lit up when auto is off, right?

Just want to be sure I'm on the same page here.

Just rechecked auto light is not on.

I did notice the Auto button only turns it on, I can't shut auto off by repressing the same Auto button but rather I have to press the button that has the outline of a guy in the seated position with the different arrows pointing at his feet, torso and head.

Is this the way Auto is designed to work?

Update,

A recap of the problem with the HVAC fan:

With the HVAC system off (including Auto off) I would do the following:
1. Start engine
2. Turn on HVAC by pressing the center of the temp. control dial (one closest to passenger side)
3. Fan would come on at a high speed
4. Lower fan speed to absolute min.
5. Turn off HVAC by repressing the center of the temp. control dial
6. Turn off engine and remove key
7. Restart engine
8. Turn on HVAC by repressing the center of the temp. control dial
9. Again the fan would come on at a high speed (keeping in mind I just lowered the fan speed to min. just prior to turning off the HVAC system)

So I took it to the dealer today to check this problem and after physically showing the service rep what happens as described above he says:
'well if you have the temp set at 32 then the fan will be at a high speed when the systems is turned on, but if you set the temp at 22 the fan will come on at a lower speed when you start the HVAC system.'

I said isn't that how it is suppose to work only when Auto is set on?

He tries to tell me that everything is electronically controlled and that "this may be the way it was engineered".

I asked him to look into it further and confirm this and he said "yea we'll find out at the next scheduled service maintainence."

Does anybody else have this problem here or is the service rep actually correct in telling me this is how it is suppose to function?

I usually don't turn mine off before I turn off the ignition. But I tried mine tonight like you do and it stays set at what I had it set on when I shut it off. I have a '10 FX4 Screw w/ lux package.

Pig9r,
We have the same truck so if you don't mind can you test the following:

1. Start engine (preferrably at operating temperature)
2. Activate HVAC by pressing center of Power button on driver side
3. Set temp to 32 degrees
4. Press Auto and wait approx. 1 minute (Auto light should be on)
5. Reduce fan speed to 1
Does Auto light go off at this point?
6. Deactivate HVAC by repressing center of Power button on driver side
7. Turn engine off and remove key
8. Restart engine
9. Activate HVAC with dirver side Power button center
Is Auto light on or off?

Thanks again for your help.

So I called Ford and explained my concern, they put me on hold and called my dealer service manager who in turn calls me back to tell me this is a normal function of the Dual Zone Climate Control system. He tried to explain that its all tied into the electronic computer with sensors located around the interior of the truck. He went on and on, he even started to change his tune saying that the My Key feature could be connected to the Climate Control of the vehicle and that they would need me to come back to check this out using the 2 keys I was given when I bought the truck. I told him no one but me has ever driven this truck, I'm not married and do not have any kids so I have never programmed the My Key feature. I think they are full of it and they are trying to talk their way out this.

Can anyone else that has the Dual Zone Climate Control confirm that the fan speed remains at the last setting prior to turning off the HVAC system with the Power button (Auto model should be off).

Really appreciate it.

The auto light came back on and the blower sped up. However if I adjust the temp also, it does not come back on.

Yes it did. I then turn off the ignition then restarted and the Auto light came back on. I did it again and also adjusted the temp in addition to the blower speed and Auto did not come back on.

So after you adjusted the temp and blower speed the Auto light went off, right?

But would it (Auto light) remain off if you turned off the climate control by pressing the center of the driver side dial, then turned off engine, removed the key, restarted the engine, press the center of the driver side dial to and turn on the system again?

I'm trying to figure out if the system is in Auto mode regardless if the light is on or off.

Or in other words and this is gonna be a dumb question, how do I deactivate Auto so that the temp and fan speed remain at the same setting as they were the last time I turned off the system with the power button? Not sure if this question made any sense.
