I've heard somee references to the Platinum F-150 having more soundproofing but nothing concrete. Someone referenced a quieter or thicker windshield but I've never seen it confirmed. I am spec'ing out a Lariat to be equipped like a Platinum because I don't care for the latter's color combination or grille. I don't want to miss out on a quieter cab though.

Anybody know?

 

Yes, back in '09 when Platinum debuted Ford told us it had extra sound deadening via it's laminated windshield. Can't recall if there was more than that...

 

Headliner and carpeting (in addition to windshield) were supposed to be different somehow to quiet noise in the Platinum in 2009 as well.

No idea why none of those 3 things are ever mentioned in any 2010/2011 brochure materials. Maybe they do it on all the F-150 trims nowadays, who knows.

 

Or the cynic would suggest they deleted it from the Platinum? Cost cutting move.

 

I saw a Platinum the other day with body side molding. Do they come with that? And if so, where can get it for my XLT?
