Add Factory or Aftermarket Remote Start

Hey All,

I just picked up a 2010 Ford F150. It doesn't have remote start, but I want to add it. Factory or aftermarket? I'm leaning towards factory if possible. Would be nice to integrate everything into one key fob.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

if you want factory all in one key fob, you have to get the Series 200 or also called the Gold system. it's a alarm, remote start and keyless entry all in one 6-button fob. If you don't like alarms, you can simply disable the alarm feature in the programming option settings. I have one, works good enough for me.

How much is the "Series 200" system and what did you get charged for install at the "stealership"??

Thanks guys. I don't think I'd want two different key fobs. One would be ideal.

typically you should figure around $230 for the 200 Series/Gold system from an online Ford parts dealer and $100 to $150 for installation from your dealer or local stereo shop. oh and you need the PATS bypass kit which is around $28.

I lucked out and found a system on ebay for ~$150 and then I found a local alarm installer who came to my house and installed it for $80. I've installed them myself before but it's a pain and takes me most of the day. This guy was done in one hour.

I chose aftermarket for the extra run time and pit stop feature, 2way long range remote. My Ford remote barely works the length of the driveway. I leave the dogs in the truck with the A/C on. Most factory systems max out under 15 minutes. The DEI runs for an hour each time.

Terry, can you give me any details on your remote start? Where did you get it, who installed it, price, etc.?

If you have remote locks then absolutely get the 200, when I purchased my 10 XLT I had them include a remote start. When I stopped in to pick the truck up they handed me this handful of key fobs and a bewildered look as to why I would be dissapointed.

Pretty funny actually, I told them to call me next week with an appointment to have it removed or put the correct remote start in. Not only would you need two key fobs but they only give you one remote.

Insulting actually but the look of astomishment on the sales guy and sales manager face was priceless. But sir that's the remote that's available for that truck, it's what you asked for....

Anyway, get the 200, price difference is about $100 on the ford web site.

I tried to save $$ on my system and ended up regretting it with 6 return trips to fix install issues. I bought the old Clifford 50.7x for 250 then the PATS module PK-all for $75. The install was 200 somehow it was about 580 out the door at Bonnie and Clydes taliban stereo on Harry Hines.... Car Toys quoted 850 I think for the new 5902. Looking back I may have used a Car Toys in a nice area like Southlake, Flower Mound or North Plano, McKinney etc.

A shop I also heard does a good job is Woody's in Ft Worth.

I would get the newer DEI's with the selectable door triggers the new Ford's seem to require. It is a 5902 in Viper and 590.2 in Clifford. Pricey pricey...

Sorry, I don't have a good hookup for this stuff...

I was at Best Buy the other day and looked at their basic remote start kit. It was something like $250 (included install, remote, and module) for remote start only. I don't want to have to carry another remote, and since I will only use the remote start at my house I figured that I could just leave that remote in the kitchen drawer. Right now the only thing I carry is a Fusion key and I don't want to have to start carrying another remote if I don't have to. I don't really care that much about an alarm.

I'll probably put it off until it gets cold.

goto www.fordaccessories.com and enter the year of your truck, and then look under electronics accessiores (09 and 10 have different part numbers). You'll find the system listed with a part number. Then take those part number and enter them at www.tascafordparts.com or you favorite online Ford parts dealer to get a price. Don't forget you need a Securilock PATS bypass kit too.
