Tire prices..... damn!!!

So, I've leveled my truck, and want to install some 33" or maybe even 35" tires... WOW!! are tire prices ever going to come down? Im running FX4 20"s now, and even the price for 18" wheels is pretty crazy. I realize that any oversized tire is going to run more, but $300-$380 each. Damn. Thoughts anyone? Does anyone know of a decent brand tire that isnt crazy high? for either a 20" or 18"? I just bring myself to spent $1200 for tires even if i could afford it haha...

Although it might not be the contribution you'd like to see to this thread, I'm gonna say it anyways...you get what you pay for! No, prices are not going to come down.

Actually, I warn everyone to buy tires now. I work in sales in the hydraulic industry, and we are discussing pricing increases with purchasing managers for 2011. All of the major tire manufacturers (Titan, Goodyear, Firestone) have or are announcing 7-10% price increases for 2011 for construction and ag. tires due to rubber prices.

This will certainly affect light tire manufacturing costs, which will ultimately lead to higher prices for consumers on car and light truck tires. China's rubber consumption is driving a large percentage of the commodity price jumps.

Just some friendly FYI, I expect light truck tire prices to increase by 2Q11.

I hear ya! I have and FX4 with 20's. I went by discount to get a quote on some BFG's A/T. I just about ***** myself. It was going to be over $2000 for tires slightly over stock size because that was what was available. My last 2 truck I have run Goodyear Wrangler AT/S's. On both my 01 F150 and 08 F250 all the sets I have put on have run between 50,000-60,000 miles with proper maintnance. They perform great offroad for what I need. I understand some people on the forum hate these but to each their own. I cannot stand these pirelli tires that came on the truck. They constantly break loose in the rain and have put me in some scary situations. My plan is to wear out these tires asap and slap on some more Goodyears unless something of equal value and capability come around.

Sorry, I'm one of "those" individuals that hated the AT/S. I had a set...worst thing I've ever owned. But...we know what they say about opinions. I almost let that set of tires run me away from every buying GY's again. Glad I didn't. Been extremely happy with my MT/R's.

Firestone Destination AT is a great value, if they come in the size you want.

I'm at the other end of the spectrum.

I ordered a 2011 4x4 F150 and Ford is going to pimp my ride with 17" wheels since I didn't order the "chrome package" which came with 18"; at which point you could upgrade to 20".

I'm going to swap the factory tires with Toyo Open Country A/T (LT265/70R17/E) that I bought last year for my 99 4x4 Expedition.

I'll be pimping with my 17s.... and I don't care.

I second Rimzoneonline...I got my 20's and Toyo Mt's from them and were the cheapest around even with the extra shipping cost.

My toyo's were around $1500 I believe.

HA! I've had similar experience...I was shocked the first two times it happened as it was in a corner and that lumbering pig of a truck started wallowing sideways trying to get away from me.

For larger rim sizes the prices go up dramatically. I wish this truck could fit 16s for the winters , those are cheap!

Tire prices have certainly gone up the last couple of years also. Five years ago I picked up a set of 35s for 1200. Now the same set is roughly 1500.
