4.10s confirmed for the EB?

On another thread, someone pointed out a Job #2 change is the addition of the 4.10 e-locker for max tow EB SCrews with 20's.

This link seems to validate that:

Very interesting...

Can't recall if just SCrews or SCabs too?

At the Round Up, one of the Ford guys mentioned 4.10s being available on the FX4, and your chart would appear to back that up. When I asked more, he pretty much said he didn't know much about it. I would like to get a 2wd EcoBoost SuperCrew with 4.10 gears.

The 4x2 Regular cab longbed with EB and 3.73s on the chart would be a workhorse for sure.

I hope it's an option, not a requirement. I sure as hell don't want 4.10 gears in a daily driver... I was half-way worried about 3.73's...

The question is why are they offering 4.10's on a engine with so much low end tq?

Casts some doubts? And given the focus on MPG with the EB, you wouldn't think they would offer 4.10s if it radically changed mpg. They'd sooner eliminate 20's.

Again just speculation.

What are the benefits of 4.10's vs 3.73's on a stock F150?

3.73->4.10 10% more torque at the wheels at any comparable engine speed.

Ford guy said that the idea is they could be better off-road, where an FX4 is likely to be used.

The ecoboost is a turbo engine which means the torque probably isnt there at low rpms such as putting around in 4low offroad. The 4.10s would help with this.

Most of the torgue in the ecoboost comes in under 2000 RPM.

Have you driven an Ecoboost engine? They have a ton of twist off the line, I don't think that is the reason for 4.10's. I think maybe for the heavy duty off road guys or the towing crew.

I think the 3.73's will be fine for me, I will only be towing 5K trailer so the 3.73 should be fine.

OK but the guy who first reported the 4.10s said only with 20's. Guys that do a lot of off roading/rock crawling don't get factory 20's.

I dont think anybody buying a 2011 FX4 will be off roading or rock crawling really. They might splash through some puddles. Haha. 20's are joke though.. Id welcome a factory option of 4.10 gears.
