2010 Trade-In Value

Just wondering if anyone has been quoted a trade-in value for a 2010 F150? Specifically I would like to know about a 2010 FX4, but I'll take what info I can get.

I was looking about a month ago at a Ford Dealer. I was considering trading my 2010 Screw Lariat 2WD w/12,000mi for a 2010 FX4. The most I could get them up to was $28,000 for the trade-in.

I don't have an answer for you bro. But I would think w/how they are pricing the 2011 (no rebates/incentives) and considering that unless you put a lot down on your '10 or been making A LOT of extra payments that you would go into the deal being REALLY upside down. I would wait a good 4yrs and let them work the 'kinks' out before jumping into an '11type engine.

5111, I traded my 2010 Lariat Screw in October with 4500 miles on it (DFW also). I got $29,500, which was only a loss of $500 for me. And, I traded down for two less expensive vehicles, so there was no adding or subtracting in the price of the new vehicle. It was done as two, actually three, separte transactions. I basically sold my F-150 to the dealership and started over with the two new vehicles.

how do you figure a $500 loss? you paid 30k out the door for a 2010 Lariat? I think what you mean is it is $500 less that what you still owed.... but more like a $4000 loss in reality

thought about trying to lower my payment , was quoted 30k over the phone for my 2010 fx4 crew with leather, sunroof, etc, told them they was crazy when i see 08 models on lots for 30k i know u could probally get it cheaper but still crazy, i think ill keep mine, maybe this helps for as what u can expect to get

How do you expect to get a dealer to give you anything near what they would sell the vehicle for? They have to make money or they wouldn't be able to stay in business. I think an offer of 30k for a 2010 is actually quite generous, especially considering they probably have several brand new 2010's on the lot that they NEED to sell, and are priced pretty close to 30k.

I stopped in last week to price a crew cab Raptor, and see what kind of numbers they would throw at me for my 2010 Lariat Crew cab 4x4 for a trade-in. Unfortunately, I was driving my work truck and they couldn't give me any real numbers without looking the truck over. But they did look it up on KBB just to give me a rough estimate (and said that would be fairly close to their number)...low end was 25k, high end was around 27k I believe...which is a joke for a $46,000 truck with 14k miles in MINT condition...literally not a scratch or rock chip on it.

Oh well, the Raptor crew cab with no added options...just the full 4 door and 6.2 was 45k + tax and everything, and 0 rebates and no A/X/Z plan pricing. So I will be keeping my truck for the time being...the payment was estimated at around $800 per month for 60 months, and I think they wanted 10% down. I can't remember the exact percentage rate, but somewhere around 4% I believe.

It you actually paid $46,000 for the Lariat, I can understand your situation of not understanding the dealer's trade offer at this time.

Right - they have to detail it, put it on the lot, and being that it's USED and technically a year old, they will probably have to sell it for around 30k. They will ask 35, but never get it.

The first year depreciation on ANY vehicle is the worst.

Yeah, it is pretty much a lose/lose situation for the buyer. For a 2010, espcially the higher trim F150s you would lose so much $$$ on a trade in just for the mere fact that a lot of dealerships are almost giving away their remaining '10's at this point. So they ain't gonna give you ***** for your used '10 even if it is a Lariat in pristine condition. They just really have no incentive to put an "old school engine" back on their lot so soon. You could probably get more selling it back to them in 2012-2013 once the EcoBoost hype dies down some.

No problem TidalWave. Glad to help out in a little way. And yeah, I bought my 2010 in September so she's pretty much brand new IMO, and even I have let the random thought of "Hmmm, I wonder how much it would cost me to get into a 2011?" but I'd prefer to not have to default on my home loan!
