It's also in the order guide and there have been some discussions about it. Base V6 or 5.0 only in STX. My guess is its the same reason they don't sell a crewcab in a STX, it would make it too similar to an XLT. They want you to move up to the higher trim.

One thing that I thought wasn't the best comparison is the 3.42 (or near; I forget!) on the Chebby on the 3.73 Ford. I wish they compared to the 3.73 Chevy.

It says at the bottom of the screen you can only get the 3.42 with the 5.3 you have to upgrade engines to get any lower. The 5.3 has to meet CAFE just like everyone else and they can't get the milage with it.

Thanks; don't know how I missed that. My friend from work has 2009 Chebby 5.3 with 3.73's so I assumed they still did...

Even if the bowtie had 3.73s it still wouldn't stand up to the F-150. I have driven a 5.7 Hemi, and they are quick...and the dodge with the Hemi and ballsy gears, still went down. I am soo excited!

Agreed but it would have been closer comparison. Yeah, those Dodge's never seem to hold up when they have a load being pulled lol!

I don't know... But at 60mph the EB have a 11.9 seconds advantage on the Hemi, but at the end of the 3.5 miles the Ram is only 3.2 seconds behind...

I guess the Ram pull better after 60 mph...

Give a good 6 speeds to the Ram and let see what happen...

That's one heck of a testing ground.

Yeah, not really a "comparison" in my opinion. It's really just a Ford marketing commercial.
I'm sure if Chevy or Dodge was to do a "comparison" they would tailor it in there favor also. Gear ratio makes a Huge difference in a vehicles performance.

All in all still a great performer. Just have to get beyond all the marketing hype and wait to see real world results.

I was going to say the same thing. Somewhere along the line that Ram was able to start catching up. With a little longer course I'm sure it would have, but obviously Ford wouldn't do that. That new Ram is no slouch and a pretty nice truck overall, but I'm still excited to see how the 5.0 and EB do once we start getting them in our hands.

Give the Ram a 6 speed, and give the F150 the Ram's 3.92 gears. Same outcome.

Going from 3.73 to 3.92 won't changed the performance that much... Maybe 50 or 100 rpm more... Nothing that will make it THAT much faster

All in all, yes the EB is a good performer, but it's here because of CAFE, not for it's work ability.

Edit : The Ram have bigger tires... So should we put smaller tires on the Ram to be fair?

F150 : 275/55R20 = 31.9''
Ram : 275/60R20 = 33''

CAFE may very well be the reason for the creation of the EB, but to say it's not here because of its 'work ability' is a bit of a farse. Time will tell, but it looks to me like the little EB is quite the work-horse.

I know that it wouldn't get the mpg, but it would be awesome to see a V8EcoBoost!

Yes it is, but let's face it. It's here because of the CAFE.

If it wasn't for the CAFE we wouldn't have the EB to talk about.
