Baja Torture Test!

I can't wait for the EB's to show up so I can drive one. I know all these videos are just for publicity and show.
Ford is trying to prove that this V6 Ecoboost can do everything the 5.0 can do and it's pretty much sinking in.
There are some who will never accept the fact that this new engine does everything the 5.0 can do plus.
It tows more with much better torque at lower RPM's and gets better mileage ( yet to be seen) plus it's rated to carry/tow more weight.
On paper this is the best engine Ford has ever put in the F150 and it should be a ground breaker for the competition to copy in the near future.

its not dubbed. take a "big block" turbo v6 with big bore headers to the turbos and large down pipes and cross them with an X-pipe and resonators instead of mufflers and thats the sound you'll get

I have not been seeing any Cobras, GT500s, SHO's, lightning's, HD's, ect. blowing up heck they have not even been blowing up when adding another 25% more horsepower.
Not only that, you are going to get less HP, less torque, a much weaker powerband, less MPG, and less towing capacity.

The ecoboost has proven durability for years now... 2 turbos>2 more cylinders, exhaust note is opinion, and power adder engines have forged internals and stronger engine blocks.

Less MPG and less power is acceptable, as long as it's in a package that the average consumer is comfortable with!

Although it's really hard to come up with any advantage the 5L would have over the 3.5, for me, it comes down to physics. Even though, it is a performer, the load would be greater on a v6 then a v8, having 2 less cylinders, but very marginal. Besides that and the extra components needed to make up the power difference, there isn't much downside.

I personally would not want to own an Ecoboost that was out of its engine warranty period! It is one great engine or appears to be, however I will not be one of the 1st guinea pigs to fork down 35K+large on real world unproven technology! I will wait several years as my 2007 runs great & is still under the Ford ESP warranty until 02/2014!!! Maybe by then I will be a believer, until then my truck suits me fine!

Yeah, what about a turbo charger repair right out of warranty? Aint cheap!
EcoBoost isn't new, but is certainly IS in a 2011 F150!

The design on paper looks to be the best engine ever put into a half ton truck. Time will tell how reliable it is in the real world. I just don't understand why people assume new engines suck vs. perform as advertised. Every manufacturer makes new engines, new designs. Sometimes there are issues, but 95% of the time there are no design issues for the intended market. The odds of betting against this EB are not in ones favor.

Now I see why Ford is not officially announcing the mpg numbers, or loudly announcing them--- 15/21 mpg's isn't ground breaking.

That being said, I really hoped the Ecoboost was going to be out in '10, because I would have gotten one.
