2011 F-150 4x4 EcoBoost MPG 15 City 21 Highway
#16
Small print says "expected range for most drivers 17-25mpg" on the hwy side and 12-18mpg for the city side.
I've never noticed that before, never looked though.
"IF" the top numbers are achieved then they are very impressive, especially considering it's mass and capability.
Anyone post a 5.0 window sticker - 4x4 screw so we can compare?

I'm not believing jack until I see an official press release from Ford.
Unless the numbers are extremely disappointing, you know Ford is going to make a big deal in the press when they release the EB fuel economy numbers. You don't stall and create this much hype, only to let numbers slowly leak out through various behind-the-scenes channels.

US side
14 city 19 hwy for the 5.0
http://apps.dealerconnection.com/dea...erPACode=02496
vs the canadian numbers
19 city 27 hwy
http://www.inventory.ford.com/servic...44&modelid=220
I get 24-25 cdn mpg with the 5.4 on the hwy so "upgrading" to the 5.0 makes no sense to me. I tow a boat 8 months of the year and the 5.4 is effortless in doing so. 75% of my driving is highway so the ecoboost at 30+ cdn mpg makes a worthy upgrade.
I guess time will tell. People will post their real world mpg's on this site with the new motors. That said, we all have different driving habits and I believe that is the number one factor in determining fuel economy.
Once I find an ecoboost screw 4x4 window sticker I will post it on here!

What you "get on the highway" has no value in comparing the 2011s.
No offense, just to many variables to compare that way. Alltitude, temp, wind, up hill down hill, stock tires?, heavier tires, tire psi, how heavy is your truck, how heavy is your foot, do you go speed limit, limit +10%, limit less 10%, what is the speed limit on your highway, do you have traffic lights, or off ramps... we could go on and on.

I am pretty sure we are on the same page :-)

etc etc etc
Tires, loads, mods, family on board, blah blah blah. I could go on and on.
Numbers printed in ink on the window sticker are just that...numbers!
I am confident that the "real world" ecoboost numbers will be favorable!

Second, Ford has said 20% better than the 5.4 since day one. The 5.4 got 18 hwy in a 4x4 and 20% more gives you 21.6- pretty darn close!
So the 4x2 should still come in about 16 or 17 city and 23 or 24 highway. If so it will have the bragging rights of most power, towing, payload and fuel economy

I just ran the numbers for my driving compared to the EPA numbers given on this tag. For me the EB would pay the $750 back in 2 years if it got 21 compared to the 19 for the 5.0. If it was to get 23 it would be about a year. The extra HP and TQ would be a bonus.
25,000 miles/year
$3.00/gallon
5.0 @ 19--> 25000/19 = 1316 gal * 3 = $3950/year
EB @ 21--> 25000/21 = 1190 gal * 3 = $3570/year
I save $380/year.
======
5.0 @ 19--> 25000/19 = 1316 gal * 3 = $3950/year
EB @ 23--> 25000/23 = 1087 gal * 3 = $3260/year
I save $690/year.
However, I doubt these numbers. One of the EBs I have driven was showing mid 15s pulling a #5000 trailer like it was in an all day drag race. I have talked to people who drove them at TMS and they got 26+ out of the truck cruising the highway at 75mph. Anyway you look at it there is no comparison to my current 5.4L which gets 15-16.

Now during the state fair, the media was allowed to go on longer rides and some got mileage near 30. These tests were done with the 3.15 axle and the media were competing for highest mileage not doing 75 mph like everyday drivers.

Yes, the ecoboost will beat the 5.4 but I don't expect many to get 26 mpg, more like 20-22.

15 mpg city and 21 mpg highway for the Ecoboost, but you can see up to 18 mpg city and 25 mpg highway. Not bad, but ain't that much better then the 5.0
