when you do pull the trigger and buy a new truck, let us know the price you end up paying.

So are the dealers required to show you the invoice on request, or does this just depend on how they are feeling? I got my 05 XLT Scab for 10 grand below sticker, but that was back during the employee pricing madness of the summer of '05, when we were sure gas would be 7 bucks a gallon by Christmas, and everyone was trading in their trucks and SUV's for sedans and hybrids.

They aren't required to show you anything. Does Lowe's show you their cost figures when you are buying a refrigerator? You can research invoice price at edmunds.com.

Really? why even post a a comment man.
Why? Why not? I'm just saying, if you willing to pay north of 40 grand for a TRUCK, you might as well get 4wd for the extra grand it costs. Better to have it and not need it, than not have it when you DO need it.

It's a truck, its suppose to be 4WD!

If you can tap into their dealer holdback, you are doing pretty good. For a $42K Truck, dealer holdback is about $1100. Plus I get rebates at the time of delivery and any preferred cash. I would recommend requesting 2011 literature via mail from Ford as they mailed me $750 in preferred cash (essentially another rebate) that is good through 3/12/11 (the day the MSP auto show begins). I'm hoping my truck is delivered in early March as Ford usually has an auto show bonus. If my timing is right I can get $2,500 in rebates, $750 in preferred cash, and $500(?) in auto show bonus rebate off the dealers price. The wait is what will kill you, not the price!! Good luck.
Found this http://www.ford.com/brochures/ not sure if it will work for the additional 750.00 but worth a shot!

That is correct. Request the brochure by mail and your offer may be printed on the second to last page in the brochure. My first one was pre-approved for Ford Credit, while my second request was for $750 in private cash. I believe your dealer can search in the system if you don't have the brochure.

Dealer wouldn't budge on mine. I did get $4500 off on rebates and $3500 off for rebates which brought me from 40k to 32k.
2010 fx4 screw. Louisiana dealer.

That's some old school thinking don't you think. Not everyone needs 4wd and certainly shouldn't be a requirement when buying a truck, which is why so many aren't. He will save in the long run with less maintenance costs and slightly better fuel economy. No reason to get it if you will never use it.

I have never needed a 4x4, even when I lived in the great frozen north. Then again I never went out mudding and tearing things up either. I guess I wasn't a normal kid. I have heard of too many people who buy the 4x4 but don't ever use it. When they go to sell the 4x4 button has never been pushed. For that extra grand they also got to pay higher road taxes, insurance, and gas bills for something they never used. It seemed like a waste of money to me.

my first post

I'm brand new here & figured I would share the specs on my first new truck purchase. I traded in a '98 F150 for a 2010 King Ranch 4X4 with the 5.4L V8. MSRP $47K and I paid $33K including TTL - bought it 1/31/11
