Leveling 2wd using 4wd OEM struts or coilovers

instead of leveling with a spacer, whether it be AS HBS or whatever, why don't people just level with a set of oem coilover takeoff's from a 4wd? it's my understanding that 4wd would sit ~2" higher

-is it just because of ease of install of spacers?
-do the offset design of spacers work better with suspension angles & rubbing issues?
-wouldn't an oem 4wd coilover set up ride better than a lift by spacer?

i have been looking at getting the rancho quick lifts but i dont know what the purpose of that would be instead of just getting some cheap take offs. or for that matter, any of the leveling struts (besided bilsteins and what not that actually perform better)

edit: i found someone say this here

"Coil perch is 1" difference between 4WD and 2WD on the shock - I considered doing that but didn't want to mess with compressing coils."

so just changing out to a 4x4 strut assembly would net me an approx 1" lift?

The 4x4 OEM coilover will give you 1" of lift compared to your OEM 2wd coilover. Just buy a set of Bilstien adjustable leveling shocks for 4x4, They are adjustable up to 2" + the 4x4 ones are 1" taller than the 2wd, Which can give you up to 3" of lift. Search member TJHOALA, He has a 2010 2wd with 4x4 Blistien shocks.
