There isn't a change in engine power, but you can keep using the filter for the life of the truck.

I run K&N in all my vehicles. They sometimes make the cars sound louder.

I have one installed in my 2010 and I put one in my fiances 07 Escape. You definitely wont notice any gains in power. The gains are minimal for the fuel economy, I would say each of our vehicles picked up at most .4 MPG. We definitely did not lose any mileage but the gains were minimal. I purchased it so I dont have to keep purchasing new filters, I just clean these and slap them back in. They have already paid for themselves. I do not drive in harsh conditions such as dirt roads or dusty climates. If you do drive in these environments you may want to consider a different filter.

I have one, and to me it's not worth the $50. There is nothing different in terms of performance or economy. It does sound a little different, more aggressive when WOT. From my research on here, I've learned it's better to keep the stock filter. I'll probably go back to one soon.

K&N's can let in more dust than paper filters, and also the oil can foul the MAF.

I've had a k+n filter in every vehicle I have ever owned. I have never had an issue with the MAFS. Just don't over oil the filter. I've never noticed a MPG or HP increase. The ONLY reason I run a k+n is so I don't have to buy a paper filter every 6 months

Aren't the Ford paper filters good for 15K miles?

They do not filter as good as the OEM filters that is correct. This all goes back to where the car will be driven. For example I have always been a fan of jet skis and I have never ran a filter on my skis and have never had any ill results. A few years back I had a turbo honda civic and I never ran a filter on that, I had well over 20k on that motor with no filter and the compression and leak down were all fine. Im not saying to not run a filter, but if you are just driving your truck on roads the K&N will get the job done.

When I checked my OEM air filter at 8k it was pretty dirty, thats when I changed out to the K&N. I clean and re-oil it every 5k miles, prolly overkill but I have tons of cleaning kits from previous cars. I have never had an issue with the oil getting on the MAF. Use a little common sense and dont over oil it and you will be fine.

Waste of money. Move on.

I've used K&N in 6 of my cars with no benefit.

The danger is you can use too much oil on the filter (how much is too much?) and affect the MAF.

Ok, my 06 XLT with the 4.6 has the stock filter. Its slow and uses a lot of gas. My work truck is a 08 SXT with the 4.6 and a K&N fliter. It is slow and uses a lot of gas. It seems to have a little more getup than mine, but it also has 1/3 the miles and is a regular cab where mine is a super cab.
For the cost and potential problems that dont come with a stock filter, I will never get one on my truck.

The 08 does have more pickup. In 07? the 4.6 hp was upped to 248hp from 231hp

My Amsoil paper nanofilter is guaranteed for 100k, all I do is pull it out every so often and vacuum it.

Any proof of this, or is this just an opinion? I've been using K&N filters on cars, trucks and motorcycles for over 30 years and my experience is that they filter better than any paper filter. If a K&N is properly oiled it will outperform paper filters as far as filtration as well as having better airflow. I keep hearing people say that the K&N 's don't filter well, but there is never any solid proof. As far as the MAF, simply follow the directions and don't put excessive amounts of oil on the filter. People that have a problem with that shouldn't be modifying or doing maintenance on their vehicles in the first place.
