Very disappointed in new truck

Same thing happened to me. Just for *hits and giggles, I stopped by a Dodge dealer to see if he could give me a good price on a Dodge Dakota 4WD 4.7L Crew Cab . Went to Kelly Blue Book and found my Sport Tracs trade in value was much higher than I expected so I figured I might be able to buy a new truck without an increase in my payment. I needed 1/2 ton payload on this midsize, for which previously I only found on my 2008 Sport Trac.
Well dealer was unwilling to help me in the least, or as I saw it, make his sale. He did, by the grace of god, let me look at some Rams which I found amusing with their payload that was lower than my Sport Tracs.
Well the Chevy dealer was one city block away and the Ford dealer was 2 city blocks away. I'm not a GM liking person, so I hit Ford. Not expecting anything as I wanted the same payments that I was paying on my Sport Trac and always found the F150s to be the highest price trucks, I just threw out what type of price I needed. He actually came back with it!
The 2010s had $6,500 rebates plus I had my Xplan so we found the actual truck that I wanted although we couldn't find a 6.5' bed. It was roughly the same payments that I was making so I was very happy. I also was very impressed with the 5.4L's low rpm performance since I tow a travel trailer.
While I would had really liked the 6.5' bed, I did have reservations. It's was hard to get my camper into my driveway with the Sport Trac, and the longer wheelbase of the 6.5' model may have made it that much harder with worse turning radius and the longer length. Besides there has been some parking lots where having the 6.5' bed would had been a 7 point turn just to get in and out of the parking spots.
I just love the Electric Blue (Blue Flame) and didn't think I'd be able to get this popular color with the options I wanted.
Good luck and congradulations, hope you enjoy your truck as much as I am.

Mike Up, even though a lot of the others didn't "get it" I am thoroughly enjoying my new truck. Yesterday I was able to help my brother out by picking up some 80 lb bags of cement (20 of them on a pallet) while he put another 15 in his truck. Plenty of room and the truck tolerated it just fine. Just to be able to give back to my brother, who in the past lent me his Mazda pickup when I needed one, made me feel pretty good...something I wouldn't have been able to do in my 2008 Mustang GT/CS.
Now if I can only find a way to get some aftermarket or even Ford darker grained wood panels to cover over the light blond wood paneling that it came with I would be even more happier with this truck.
When I first started looking at the F150 I was thinking that the FX2 would be the best truck for my needs and priced just about right. But I was extremely pleased that the initial figures thrown out by my dealer (without any negotiating whatsoever...maybe because I used to sell cars there) that I decided to "move up" to a much nicer vehicle and a Crew cab at that. Would I have liked to have gotten the Candy Apple Red or the Blue...sure...but the Silver has really grown on me and with the deal that I got I am way better off than I was before I came home on this R&R from Afghanistan with what I thought I was originally going to get (the FX2 Super Cab).
Now the hard part will be leaving my wife and my new truck and Triumph motorcycle for a little over four more months till I finish up over there.
Life is good...then you have to go back to work...but I'll have a lot to look forward to when I come back.
And I do want to thank all of those who did give some very helpful comments and suggestions plus all the "ins and outs" of the F150 when I was doing all my "research" into what to buy and what to look for...I was extremely well prepared when I went into my dealership and got the best truck I could get for what I wanted to pay.
Thanks,
Dennis

I feel your pain. I often try and make a funny and the wife lets me know real fast when I failed!

I have a 2010 FX4 with luxury package. In 2010 the rear camera and remote start were options. In the 2011 FX4 the remote start and camera are standard with the luxury package. Needless to say I was pissed, and was actually considering trading my 2010 with only 13K miles. I have decided to live without and be happy with what I have. Without these two features the truck is still awesome
