Flex Fuel anyone

So is running this fuel with more Ethanol? My truck has only 2000 Kms on it so far. I think I'll try a tank of Flex next time I fill up. FS

Expect to lose at least 3 miles per gallon.

E85 is 85% ethanol 15% gasoline compared with regular fuel which is usually 10% ethanol 90% gasoline. The E85 is cheaper at the pump but gets worse mpg's.

Yes but not 30% cheaper, not worth it IMHO.

It nees to be @ 66% price of Gas to get to "Equal".

And thats not taking into account the loss in range.

Good the the EB is not flex fuel, between that and the "small tank" you'd be stoping often!

And the 6.2... whats a 1/3 of range off 14 mpg even with the large tank?

Each truck is going to be different as to how much mileage you will lose. Some people will save money, some won't.

I would recommend running a tank of E10 every 4 or 5 tanks; just my thoughts. I think Ford recommends one tank of E10 or better at every oil change if all you run is E85 gas. It will be in your owner's manual.

I didn't save enough on the cost of each gallon to cover the loss in MPG.

How about half a tank of E85 and half a tank of E10 mixed? Would be E37.5 no?

Just wondering if we have a mix called E 10 here in Canada? Thank you fellows for your reports on the ethanol blend, just the opposite of what the salesman that sold me my truck told me? FS

Some provinces have mandated ethanol (and biodiesel use) But it can be based on a 10% of total. So some may have 10% in fuel, some not. When combine dwith some gov't vehicles that use e85, as long as on the whole lot it = 10% they have met the guidelines.

If E85 were more available around here, I would try to figure out the proper mix for maximum torque increase. Ford shows a 25 lbs of torque increase with E85. Would be nice for towing in the hills.
