Some good comments. Jersey has had E-10 for a while, no change there. I think they took the winter blend issue away a while back or changed the type of additive used. Like I said no real change from last year. I have been keeping a check at all fill ups since new day ONE.
Would just like to stay away from the 12 & 13 range. To answer a comment or two. Not speeding, tire pressures at 41 since new. Running at 32-35, low profiles look really low.
Hard to believe any one is getting a true 20 mpg out of these trucks. Not enough to trade in on new Ecoboost, 1 or 2 mpg is not worth loss.
I'm good with 14 & 18 as stated. BTW my computer mileage is off from actual.
If you check odometer on a measured course they are off.

Thanks for sharing guys. Come on summer !

My fuel mileage has taken a dive also. The only change is the temperature and the winter fuel. Hopefully back up to 20 mpg soon.

I have had the computer tell me I was getting 19 + maybe 20 at times when on a long stretch of road doing 45, 50 mph, but it goes back down the first light or stop sign you hit.

Never had truck show higher average above 18 something. Seems like
several guys on here show 20 + with the 5.4, Don't know how they do it.

??? I'm not aggressive with the fuel pedal and try to ease into stops and such.

Completed a 320 mile round trip today and am happy to report the fuel mileage is better. At the end of the trip the trucks lie-o-meter set at 20 mpg, and my Scanguage II showed 21 mpg.

1. Upped air pressure in tires to 40 psi.
2. K&N Filter
3. Mobil 1 5w-20
4. 178 miles at 65 mph
5. 146 miles at 75 mph
6. rest in town driving

Not bad for a big heavy brick going down the road. The Scanguage showed the truck getting 22-23 mpg on the stretches of 65 mph 2 lane road.

Yea, I don't understand how some people who have a different trim but the same gears/engine are getting so many more mpgs than I am. 2009 Platinum 3.55s and I have been getting 13.5 MPG (12.5 real) for a while now.

nauveed, Just fueled up yesterday and that is EXACTLY what I got.

13.5 truck computer and 12.5 hand caculator. Like I said before it was consistently better averaging 14 around town last year.

Got rid of my diesel 7.3 cause I was tired of the mileage being so low compared to what is was. The 5.4 seems on the same track. It is

disappointing to be down this low in town and highway is down too.

Still love the truck, mileage sucks.

Yea, I don't know. 14 and 18s on the sticker are not even close. Severely disappointed.

wow i would love to see 14 city and 18 hwy. but my hand calculation of 6 tanks says i am getting 12 in the city and 15 on the hwy. i dont floor it or jump on it to pass but i do drive 70 on hwy. i try not to do stop and go traffic but i live in a big city so i cant avoid it. so i have just come to the theory its a heavy truck and it sucks at milage.

I've been holding about 17.8mpg (hand calculated) in the past two fill ups with I think is pretty good since I've been doing a 50/50 mix of city and hwy. I've reset the lie-o-meter while on the hwy and I've been able to hold over 20-21 mpg going 65mph easily.

I'm in SE PA, same weather conditions as you. In winter my mileage (5.4 screw 3:73 gears 157 in wheelbase 4x4) is the same as your around town. Even in summer around town it doesn't get much better because you spend so much time idling at traffic lights around this area.
Last summer on a road trip to Florida I got a tank full best mileage of 19.2, hand calced on my Excel mileage spreadsheet, . On that same trip my other tank fillups were getting high 18's. Same trip, in December, same driving style, lighter load, and my best mileage was in the 17's and other tank fulls were in the high 16's.

Yes with 3.55 gears....Well my truck does have a couple of mods that probably help but I know in the middle to end of summer I could hold 22-23 mpg (hwy)on the lie-o-meter. I'll try to post so vid if you guys don't believe me in the next couple of weeks.

hemigod & nuaveed, I'm pretty much with you guys. The truck is a little up &

down with the mileage. See my old post on road trip to Florida last summer,

it was up and down and could not find a pattern. Drives me nuts. I'm not a

road racer when I drive. Very good about planning for stops and lights and coasting earlier instead of braking to help mileage.

The 12 & 13 thing does suck

I can get the computer to show 19 and low 20.2 or .05 if I'm driving rural

roads at 50 to 55 mph, but you lose that soon as you have to stop for a

light or stop sign. Also I run tire pressure at 41 all around, 32 to 36 looks a little too low for the 20's. Don't want to nick these wheels.

Joe Cool did you recalibrate for the 23 inch wheels. Hard to believe 21 plus with the 5.4 motor, but weight difference of the 4x2 and 4x4.

Yeah I had my wheels for about 1 month before getting the programmer and I actually saw a drop in mpg, which is expected when getting bigger/heavier wheels. Not until I got my drop and programmer (calibrated rev/mile) did I get my mpg back and then some (about .5-1mpg).
