Warning to new owners!!!!

ok i have a rant to make on ford i dont know if its every one or just mine but i have been putting off checking the oil level in my truck since i figured hey its brand new 2011 5.0 bought with 56miles on it . oil should be fine right?? WRONG after 2600 mile i check the oil level and much to my amazement setting in a level driveway the oil dip stick oil level was just below the min dot/hole on the dip stick. they will be a oil change tomorrow and a call to the stealer ship monday

Just want to let every one know to check this dont want to see a truck because of too little of oil

I always thought that checking the oil level was something you were supposed to do every couple hundred miles for the first 2K or so miles as the engine gets broken in, and things like rings get seated in properly... Does the owners manual no longer recommend this procedure?

The dip stick is not easy to reach standing on the ground. Are you sure you returned the dip stick all the way down after you wiped it clean?

they and we inflate tires to max pressure while they sit on the lots (actually the come off the transport this way) to prevent tires flat spotting from sitting in one place for days/weeks at a time.

they should have let them back down to the recommended pressure +/- 2psi

ha I had 4 fog light bulbs in my truck. Got out and was wondering why the tires were all lit up and why I smelled rubber. Look under and they put fog light in and fog light in the connectors, so the ones in the housing were not plugged in and the ones plugged in were dangling. they were bounching off the tire and burning holes in it.

These issues should have been corrected on the PDI. Someone obviously didn't perform them.

I check my oil level and tire pressure as soon as I get a new vehicle home.

I just looked at my oil level and it is right in the middle. Ford could have made it a little easier to get at the dipstick...I'm 6'1'' and I needed a chair to stand on to reach it!

THanks for the headsup. My levels were fine but sheesh, that should have been easier to get to.

I would NOT be surprised if it actually burned a quart of oil in 2600 miles. None of the automakers consider oil consumption as excessive unless it's a quart every 1000 miles.
