Looks nice. Man those mirrors look bid. Like Will Smiths ears...
Maybe this is the reason for the fuel mileage! a tail wind might help with those sails! LOL
I wish I had those mirrors, I checked some out on ebay, I almost shat myself! over $1200 so I stopped looking!
I love your Truck I'm Jealous!!

Love that color combo, and glad people aretaking to the EcoBoost. But they could have atleast left those chrome mirror caps off, if not PTM them. Thats distracting.

"Nice looking rig, I love the color and interior. I see a pattern arising with 4wd Crew Cab EB owner's. It is a very heavy vehicle for a small V6. It's going to take some throttle to get it moving so your going to use fuel. The EB is going to pay off when cruising on the highway at posted speed limit's. Driving around town and at WOT is going to kill fuel mileage."

How would a motor (EB in this case) that makes more torque at lower RPM vs a different motor (5.0) installed in the same truck (ie SCREW 4x4) require more gas to get it moving?

Still trying to wrap my brain around this statement.

The torque #'s on the BMW 335 turbo diesel (3.0L) are similar to our EB
Check them out here:
http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...fications.aspx So this "small" motor would require more prodding than a 5.0? Even though it makes more torque at lower RPM's...

So if it was an 8.1 L Chevy that makes similar #'s to the EB would it be better because it's larger?

Aint knockin yer five-0, it's a great motor, so don't interpret otherwise :-)

Torque is torque...right?

Cheef,

If it's anything like the fully optioned FX4 Crew Cab EB I test drove it's gonna need some throttle to get it motivated off the line in normal driving. I'm not knocking the engine but I have said all along that a fully optioned 4WD Crew Cab is a heavy vehicle for a V6, Turbo or otherwise.

I have received 17.8 mpg average on four tanks of gas. The first tank was pretty much a waste due to my spirited driving. Either the EB owner's on this forum have a seriously heavy foot or something else is happening to cause the poor fuel mileage. These are my thoughts and nothing else.

The OP has a beautiful truck and I wish him the best. I hope all four powertrain's are a hit in the automotive community.

BMW - 3,825 lbs.
Lariat 4X4 Crew Cab 6.6 bed - 5,716 lbs. curb weight (5.0L)

Max tow with the 20" wheels requires the 4.10 gears. That's a pretty good starting point for a brand new engine for MPG. Especially a TT V6 on 87 octane.

I orded mine on the 13th of Jan.... I'm jealous too. I'm in Wisconsin, where are you located?

It makes alot of torque because its squeezing more air. When you add more air, you have to add fuel. Now, if you can get up to speed, and stay out of boost, you should get V6 type mileage. My 2 cents.

4.10 is only an option on Fx4 and Raptor... and other trucks can get the Max Tow and 20" wheels, so...?

Max Tow package does come with 3.73LS... IIRC...

I'm in Michigan right down the road from the plant, and still it took 2 weeks from the day it was built to get released and delivered.

For those wondering the truck has the off road package with the 3.73 e-locker.

Exactly! torque is torque! Doesn't matter the how you get there! Diesel, DI, displacement, turbo, supercharged, all the above!

So if a 1.5 litre triple supercharged quadruple turbocharged hydrogen powered direct injection 3 cylinder motor makes 750 lb of torque at 1800 RPM is installed in a 6000lb brick is it sufficient, or is it too small?

Ford has 4 great motors available which is fantastic.

Let's give these motors some time to break in so we can get a feel for realistic, day to day, fuel economy.

Anyway, keep it real!
