I can coax 21+ out of mine at 60mph and cruise set, but no other driving at all but hwy. Hand calculated.

Thanks, ya'll.

So If I can keep it at 60, sounds like it gets pretty good mileage. Sux for me, but the only roads on my commute with 55-60 speed limits also have lights every mile or three, which should kill my mileage pretty good... What about @ 70-75? 2/3's of my commute is Freeway/Toll road, everyone is driving 70-75 (when it is not stop & slow rush hour).

As stated, remember it's probably going to get up due to the winter blend eventually being switched to summer blend. I dropped 2-4mpgs and a few times 5-6mpgs this winter on the winter blend and cold temps.

Is "Winter Blend" worse than E10, mpg wise? About all I can get around Houston is E10, year around. I know when they made that switch, my MPG dropped a solid 10% in all my cars...

Yup, the winter blend was made for cars with carbs so they would emit less pollution. The E10 was made to help farmers keep the price of corn up both come back to the Feds. The EPA numbers are based on real gas not the crap they put in our pumps. Your mileage suffers because of Federal policy games.

I filled up today with my 5th tank of Shell 87 octane (E10), combination city/highway and received the following hand calculated results:

2,085.2 total miles
20.1 avg. comp.
374.6 miles on 5th tank
18.703 gal.

20.02887 mpg

That's already better than the 17.8 mpg average in my '07.5 STX SCab with 3" cat-back, CAI and SC Programmer.

There are not many 5.0L owners with more than 5k break-in miles. EB has been out for a few weeks, again not many over 2k miles.

I have been inching up, but currently running right at 16.7 on 50-50 mix of highway/city. Truck is a .65' bed Supercrew with 3.73 & 20" rims. Definitely better than my 08, {same truck with a 5.5' bed} but I will say, does cost more to fill up with the 36gl tank........

I cruise at around 72-75 mph without much difference from 65 unless the highway is perfectly flat. The momentum from the extra speed helps get over the small hills without downshifting/accelerating which will obviously hurt the fuel economy.

I only have 300 miles but it is averaging 14.9 on lie-o-meter---60% driving 72 and 40% driving about 30.

Before I went back to the sand box I put almost 1,000 miles on my new Lariat. Other than the dealer supplied tank when I bought the truck I got my gas at Walmart.

My first tank was mainly city driving with two short trips on I-10 of about 50 miles each...mileage was at 17.3 on the read out in my 4X2 display on the dash (otherwise known here as the lieometer).

My second tank came in at 19.2 mpg with about a half/half with city/hwy driving.

Hope this helps...figure it will get better when I go in and have that break in oil changed out (oops...might be thinking motorcycle oil here in my new Triumph...don't know if there is "break in" oil in my truck or not).

No break-in oil used. The factoy oil filter's are very similar to/if not Purolator Pure One filters. My first oil service will be at 5,000 miles with Kendall GT-1 Synthetic 5W20 with a MC oil filter. All other oil changes will be at 7,500 miles with Kendall Full Syn oil.

I have 1400 miles on my '11 4WD Supercrew, 5.0, w/3.55 gear. The first tank of gas I drove 3 hours highway...then a bunch of short trips over 3 days at destination, then 3 hours back highway again. The average mpg by the computer was 19.8 mpg.

Since that first drive / tank, I have only driven it combined highway and city approx 30 miles to work and back, and short trips around town. I have never had below 18 mpg.

I dont have a lead foot, but I don't drive it like Im drag racing either.

I was really surprised of the lower reported mpg's posted. I especially was suprised at the mpg of the 3.73 gear truck. There really should not be that much desparity in mpg between 3.55 and 3.73 gears. I guess without knowing everyone's driving habits, it is hard to know what a good and reliable mpg is.

Hope this helps.

Mine's too new to really offer anything useful, but what the heck. First tank, 16.3 which is 95% country highway and 5% downtown, certainly not city, driving. Surely better then the 12 that my 07 has given me most of this winter. But not the higher numbers like some of you guys.

I'm not as impressed with the power of the 5.0 as I had hoped. It certainly has a ton of get up and go if you apply a good amount of gas, but under light pedal pressure it doesn't feel as good as my 07 5.4 Lariat did. And both trucks have 3.73's. Maybe the new one needs to learn and adapt but I think it's just programmed this way. I drive rather conservatively so this is something others might not notice or it's just my truck. Don't know and not really worried about it.

I'll post more mpg data when I get more miles.

I attempted to coax 25 mpg out of my 5.0 last week after topping off the tank. I reset the avg comp before hitting the two lane I travel back and forth to work. It is a paved rural road with random farm equipment at times.

I set the cruise at 55 mph and left it. It read 23.1 mpg after a few minutes and stayed there for about 15 mins until I stopped at a traffic light. Maybe I can squeeze a little more out of her when it breaks in.
