Opinions wanted: 2011 4.6L or 5.4L which would you pick?

If you were ordering a 2011 truck today and those were the only engine choices which would you pick?

The order will be for an E-series van. E250 or 350.
It will be hauling 500lbs+ all the time stocked with shelves and gear.
It will be used to occasionally tow a trailer as well.
(nothing to drastic, Harley, Jet skis, etc.)

Where can I find the HP and torque ratings for the 2011 V8's?

I can't find it @ Ford.com
Is the 5.4 worth the $975.

(I posted in General sec but not too many replies)
Thanks
**Just noticed the two choices are only for the E250**
**The E350 is 5.4L only**

Weird, I dont see the E250 van on the Ford website.

Here are the engine specs:
http://www.ford.com/trucks/eseries/s...ations/engine/

I would steer clear of the 4.6 V8, its only the 2V engine. I would get at least the 5.4, but you also have the V10 option if you go with the E350. Gas prices might be a killer on that one though.

Sucks they only have the have the 4-speed as the only option. Wonder when they will be dropping in the 6 speed?

I think that both engines are going to get about the same fuel economy so going with the smaller displacement isn't going to help much in that department.

It's a heavy vehicle to start with. I may be bias because the '07 E250 that I drive for work has the 5.4 but I believe that the additional torque that it produces makes it the better choice for these vans.

Just remember that the 4.6 might not have as much power, but it's pretty much bullit proof.

Um if there is a 4.6L 3V but not sure if that is available. Get that over the 4.6L 2V. It is just as good as the 5.4 just cant tow as much!

The 5.4 for the E-van is a 2v and is very reliable. No phasers. That's how I'd go in a van, unless you wanted the V-10 or a 6.0 diesel.

Looks like the V10 and Diesel are no longer options, interesting. I knew they were completely phasing out the 6.4, the last couple of years the diesel option was still the 6.0, guess the new diesel dont fit in the van at all.

I would go with the 5.4, the E series van, especially the 250 and 350 are very heavy vehicles and the 4.6 2v barely moves the F150 which is lighter.

I believe the V10 and 6.0 diesel are still options in the E-350.
