Ordering New Truck..in 2012

New guy here.

I'm looking at replacing my 94 Chevy with a new Ford F150 but not until next model year. A couple of vehicles ago I bought a first year Lincoln LS and swore up and down that I would never by another first year vehicle. Since this is the first year Ford is putting the Ecoboot in the F150 I'm waiting to see how they do.

Anyway I pretty sure I'm going with the Ecoboost in an XLT Screw, 6.5 bed (rare around here) with Max Tow Package. If the factory offers rebates that are too good to pass up later this year I might go with the 5.0 instead with regular tow.

Anyway looking forward to the day I get a new Ford.

The only engine this year that isn't new is the 6.2 in the Raptor and that is only a half year old - started in the second half of 2010 MY. The trannies are all basically new with the manual shift option. EPAS is also all new. Those are the major new items. So if you swear never to buy first year this isn't your year.

hasn't the 5.0L been in the Mustang a year now?. Besides a different cam profile and few tid-bits the rest is the same. I haven't heard of any huge issues.

^ I'm sure $4-5/ gal gas will say otherwise on incentives. Hopefully they will be heavy on them later this year?

That is exactly how I am betting. I'd prefer dealers be willing to wheel and deal on raptors a little more just to move them; if not I would just go through Randy Wilson. Anything besides a Raptor I'd just use an A-plan, so incentives really don't play a big role for me..

I'll be using the x-plan so there is no haggling there just hoping there might be icing on the cake at years end. I keep my vehicles a long time so in the long run it doesn't really matter all that much. Just like everyone else I'm trying to get the most bang for my buck. The Ecoboost is sounding awesome. Then again the 5.0 sounds like a winner too. I'm just watching to see how it all plays out.

touch'e, I'm not against a 5.0, just rather have a EB with FAT incentives by years end

If you keep your vehicles for a long time, I would not touch an Ecoboost engine!....Go 5.0!......

If that's the argument for the 5.0, then you can't exclude the fact that the EB has been used in other platforms for a while now (think Taurus SHO).
