Max Tow Package a bit deceiving??
The reason I say this is that the GVWR goes up 475 lbs on the Screw but the axle ratings are much less with front only going up 150# and rear at 200#s.
Now the payload ratings say 400# so the additional component weight must be 75#. So the rear axle gained payload is 162#s and the front is 112# . This will help with heavier heavier hitch weights on the rear while the front axle will take maybe 20% of that from the weight distribution hitch redirecting force on the front axle.
So it seems the actual gained useable payload from the axle gains, isn't that much as you would think related inflated GVWR. What are owners thoughts and experiences with this???
Also I wonder on the Scabs, if the Heavy Duty Payload package with it's 8200 lbs GVWR gets much higher rated axles that are seen on the 3/4 tons.
While this won't affect me, it's more out of curiosity.
Dodge and GM have combined axle ratings of about 900# or more over GVWR while the F150s only have a combined axle rating of 400 lbs more than the GVWR. Don't get me wrong, I feel these are conservative and I'd trust a Ford anyday over a GM or Dodge.
