What's the hold up on our trucks?

I'm just about out of patience with Ford. This is going to sound like a rant, because that's exactly what it is.

My new truck was released from the factory on 27 Feb, with an ETA of 7 March (that is the date provided by Ford). So far, no truck. My dealer has been wonderful, and keeps me well informed. For the last three weeks every time they have run an inquiry, the only information available is "awaiting transport".
I have called Ford Customer Care, and all I got from them was my questions side stepped. Never any actual information as to what the delay is. I have also emailed with the same results.

I'm at 9 weeks waiting on this rig. The last three of which the truck has been sitting somewhere in Dearborn "awaiting transport". I have resigned myself to start writing an email a day until I get some information. I'm sure that there are plenty of others out there in the same situation. I think we should all keep writing emails and/or calling Ford Customer Care until we get some action. To that end, here's the email for Ford Customer Care: crcfmc@ford.com

I went to a Ford dealer in Ontario this week for a test drive and could have walked away with any truck I wanted. The had all the trim lines available, eco boosts and 5 litres. After reading on here how long everyone was waiting to recieve there trucks I figured I would not be able to drive the eco boost model as it would have been already sold.

Gotta just shake my head.....that just adds fuel to the fire. I have no idea what "strategy" Ford is employing by holding all these trucks for so long at the plant, but they are managing to make a lot of folks angry.

I feel your pain, waiting on a new truck is worse than waiting on Christmas as a kid! From what I remember you ordered your truck just a few days before I did. I ordered mine on Jan 24 and the dealer said it would be 6-8 weeks with a higher chance of 8 than 6. From the outset they said early to mid March it should be here. The last I heard was that mine was off the train and could be there any day now. The ETA was March 14. Here's where my story takes has a twist. On the 15 I boarded an aircraft to go to Europe for few weeks. My truck is more than likely gonna sit at the dealership for a few weeks before I can pick it up. All that anticipation for nothing as they say over here, c'est la vie. The dealer did say they would try to give me the better incentives of either March or April, so it might work out better for me in the end.

The only delays I have heard of were a few minor issues in the supply chain and lots of shipping delays due to the blizzards in the mid-west. Apparently trains don't work in deep snow.

Where I'm at the trucks are either fully loaded and look good, decently optioned with poor color choice for the area, or lightly optioned with the ugliest colors.

I kinda learned my lesson back in late '96 when I ordered my '97 F-150. It took almost 5 month's to get it. I've been getting them off the lot the last few I've bought. Seem's they should be in a hurry to get more on the road burning fuel if you ask me!

I feel your pain. I'm in the exact same boat. Built on Feb 19th, on ramp awaiting shipment Feb 21st. Re released on the 27th. It's been sitting on that ramp now for 3 weeks awaiting shipment. Seems pretty ridiculous to me. I could have walked to Dearborn and driven it back by now.

I would have picked one off the lot for sure but there was not one Black or Silver 2011 Screw 157" 5.0 in all of Canada believe it or not. Tons of short boxes though.

I'd bet my paycheck they found an issue and holding the trucks until they get fixed. Earlier, in Feb they had a hold on PCM issues (whether there was a problem or short on parts, I forget). I'd rather have a trouble free "factory" repaired truck than one shipped out and have to visit the dealer and hope they fix it right.

My thoughts on this are you can't control external supply or quality issues and you can't knock ford for only turning out the most top quality stuff. Would you rather they pump out average trucks with recalls out the a$$ to fix what could have been handled by just putting quality first... I have a feeling people will gripe about it either way

You guys should just put your wheels down! Try ordering a raptor and having a 4-6 month wait to get your truck.

Not so sure about that. My truck was already pulled once. It was on the ramp on the 21st then pulled and put back on the ramp on the 27th where it's sat for the last 3 weeks. I agree I'd rather have a "problem free" truck but they should at least be able to let people know why the hold up or when they'll be released in this age of minute by minute tracking.

The issue isn't any type of supply one. Most of these trucks are completed, have been released from the factory, and although I can't speak for others, I was given an ETA of 7 March. That was two weeks ago, with no information on the inquiries since, other than "awaiting transport".
Waiting would not be an issue had Ford not sent out the ETA. If you can't at least get close to meeting a delivery date, then you don't offer it. Therein lies my frustration. Further more I fully understand that the dealer has no control over the situation. Ford does...and all my calls and emails to Ford customer care have side stepped my questions and patronized me....those are the reasons that I am not happy.

Even if it's still done and ETA sent to you something may have surfaced on a batch of trucks. Take the raptors that where built several weeks ago, most where at the dock or in transport when they all got called back for what is being called a 'secret recall' by those waiting I'd bet it's something wrong holding up the whole thing. Judging from the raptor forums and some of the ford techs, dealers and sellers who frequent them ford is having issues with the BCM, PCM and something about a fix for the slip yoke clunk finally. Just a hunch, as I have no idea either.

I do think and agree the customer service is not a good deal for anyone, but again the raptor owners are getting the same treatment.. So are the dealers. Ford doesn't want whatever it is out yet.

I am sure you know but ETA is just a 'best guess estimate' of arrival barring any unfoseen issues which is what I think is up. I know the wait is the worst part!

What model did you order? I ordered my EB Lariat Super Crew 3 weeks ago. Was built last Monday. On Wednesday it was in Markham Ill. Supposed to be here in St Paul, MN Wednesday 23rd or Thursday 24th This week. Sorry you have to wait. I thought 3 weeks was a long time.

I ordered an XLT, Scab, 4x4 with EB. We're at 9 weeks waiting now. The truck was built 19 Feb, released on 23 Feb, then back to the factory on 26 Feb, released again on 27 Feb, which is when I received the ETA of 7 March. Every detail the dealer has printed for me since still has the information: "Released from factory 27 Feb, ETA 7 March." Even last week's detail still had the 7 March ETA on it, and that detail was printed on 14 March.

Ford might have some reason for holding the trucks, but they are doing themselves more harm than good by not informing their customers.

This experience has soured me enough to seek future vehicles elsewhere...especially after reading Mark T's post. I have no doubt that IF the truck ever gets here, I will love it, but there will always be that "cloud" of a bad ordering experience and terrible customer service hovering over it.
