Ran my truck vs Dodge 1/4 mile (Now with Video)

Both Trucks ran 15.5@91 mph. The dodge beat me by .04 seconds (less than 1/2 of a tenth of a second. Both trucks were 4x4 crew cabs. I believe my Platinum might weigh a little more than a Lariat or XLT. Pretty good considering the Ford is rated at 30hp less and weighs a few hundred more.

We both have 3.55 gears.

Did both trucks run even all the way down the track or did one jump out and the other catch up? What were the speeds?

I got the jump, and he slowly caught up. I had a 2.3 60' and he had a 2.4 60'. I still finished ahead of him due to reaction time. I had the faster 1/8th barely and he had the fast 1/4 barely. I will look for my slip.
I was like 90.5 and he was 91.0 I believe.

Makes sense. The hemi does have .7 liters on the 5.0 which helps as speed increases. Overall that's impressive from the 5.0. Bottom line is even Ford's middle engine can hang with just about anything out there. It's been a long time since a stock F150 was considered fast.

Heck, it's almost their bottom engine! I was really wishing I had the eco or 6.2! All dodge owners think the Hemi is god's gift to the automotive world!

I got in a tiff with a hemi as we were both getting on the highway, he jump on me but I ultimately won by about 2 trucks. That is surprising that it was so close. I have the ecoboost don't know if that makes that much difference, I thought the 5.0 and 3.5 were pretty close.

3.5TT should be compared to the 6.2

The 5.0 is the replacement for the 4.6L V8

An example of what, we are talking 1/4 mile times in the 15 second range. I had a civic back in the day that ran mid 15s as well and it was stock, still slow. I will give you that the 5.0 is faster than the 5.4 though, but both are still extremely slow in terms of drag racing. Its a truck not a GT500, its made to tow and haul not race down a drag strip.

used2vtec ... I had a civic back in the day that ran mid 15s as well and it was stock, still slow.
And your in-the-day civic was probably 1/3 the weight of a modern-day extended cab 4x4 F-150. And the point is

It's a matter of moving a larger amount of mass.

Its a truck not a GT500, its made to tow and haul not race down a drag strip.
Heysus Christ ... Lighten-up Francis.

A persons vehicle is for whatever they want to do with it. Whether it be drag racing, oval track racing, off-roading, camping, hauling, towing, car-showing, mud-bogging, etc., etc., etc..

So if they decide it's going to be their "GT500" what's the BFD.

BTW ... Been to any local drag race tracks ? You'd be surprised what will "race down a drag strip".

Tell that to diesel guys running 11's and 12's while still being reliable and a truck!
