In my line of work (construction equipment sales) we used to give away jackets, shirts, golf clubs, etc. The customers loved it, and times were good enough where we built it into the deal as "novelties". Gross profits back then were much stronger than today. In reality the customer pays for this. The OEM that we represent never contributed any monies for novelties and it came all from the dealer level. I assume this might answer why some got items and others didn't.

I think what you meant to say was: "I paid a reasonable price for a vehicle with a seriously inflated MSRP".
I love how all of the manufacturers play this game. Jack the price and then give steep discounts on virtually every sale so the consumer feels like they got a good deal...

I got a paint touch-up kit with my '96 250HD Turbo diesel, nothing with my '05 Scab (but this was during employee pricing days, so I didn't expect anything) and nothing with my '11 Screw EB, but again I only paid 70 bucks over invoice not including incentives, so I wasn't expecting the dealer to be very generous anyway. They normally throw in a full tank of gas and a free oil change, but since I shipped it out of state three days after I bought it, neither of those did me much good. I like logo souvenirs as much as the next guy, but I'd rather have the great deal I got than a blanket, chair, or travel thermos.
