Re-Designed F150
#17
It's not like they have waited all that long before to do a redesign. Look at the Super Duties. They haven't changed a whole lot from the A Pillars back since 1999. That's 12 years now. The bumpers, tailgates, and tail lights are interchangeable across all 12 of those years.
The 2009-11 F150s are pretty similar to the 04-08. From the A Pillars to the bed has stayed pretty much the same, they just made it a little longer.

I think a redesign will be shortly before the new cafe standards which is 2116. A 2015 or 2016 will most likely be it.They will probably drag their feet as long as possible because it will have to mean a greatly reduced weight and size to get the MPGs up.Maybe they will go back to the size a F150 used to be.A reduction of 800 to 1000 lbs with todays engines should run very well and produce 2 to 4 Mpg better than what they get now.
New Federal CAFE standards officially released, 34.1 mpg by 2016

It's still only considered a "refresh" because the bodies are essentially the same. The last complete "redesign" was in 04. We are now on the "2nd generation" of the current body style. They are going to have to do a complete body redesign to reduce the weight significantly. Until then, they are maximizing efficiency with powertrain technology.
