There is a bulletin out that the new 11 trucks will not realize full MPG capabilities until 3K miles.
I got my EB yesterday and there is no comparison in my eyes anymore. If you look at everyday economy between the 5.0 and the EB in similar trucks past the 3k-5k miles range they will be pretty close but the EB will be better by about 2MPG than the 5.0. If you drive like a fool and pound on them that advantage over the 5.0 will be gone and I think the two will be almost equal in MPG. BUT, and this is my biggest point, the EB will put to shame the 5.0 when you're pounding on them. I'm not saying this to be mean or rude in anyway, it's just the truth.
That's what people are paying a premium for to have the opportunity for good MPG's when they want to take it easy. And to tow the crap out of whatever they want to whenever they want to do it. The EB truck is the closest you'll ever come to having your cake and eating it too.
The 5.0 is a great V8, probably the 2nd best engine offered in a half ton truck from any manufacturer. (yes I like it more than the Ford and GM 6.2's) And the 5.0 will come close to the EB in economy tests. But that is all the closer it will ever come when you're comparing it to the EB. If you don't believe me come and drive mine.

I was just a little afraid of the new technology. I know they have done a ton of tests that show the turbos last, and the engine holds up well, but I still like to give new stuff a couple of real world years before I buy into it, and for that reason alone, I bought the 5.0.....now, there are days when I think, damn sure would have been cool to have the turbo engine, but I'll live with what I have, there's also days when the 5.0 really sounds like a truck too!

If the 3.5 was a turd like the 3.7 we wouldn't be having this debate.

Since when is the 3.7 a turd? It smokes the previous 4.6 2V and will give a 4.6 3V a good run for its money. It's all the engine a heck of a lot of F-150 owners will ever need. If they offered a manual trans in it I would be buying a new truck. There's not a bad engine in any F-150 this year.

I'm not certain which other site you're referring to. I can assure you that I have only mentioned an EB test drive on this site. I attempt to keep my comments to a minimum, unless I have something to contribute to this site. I will keep my EB test drive comments to a minimum in the future. Have a good week.

Agreed---I let my EcoBoost euphoria get the best of me- Ford has done a great job all around with its product and engines. I have been a die hard Chevy man for nearly a half century. Still Love my Camaro over the Mustang. But I love love love my new F-150 with the EcoBoost engine
